    What's your favorite baseball team?

Just as an informal survey, what is everyone's favorite baseball team? It can be a Little league team, college team, minor league team, or a major league team (a reason why you like them isn't necessary, but feel free to add it if you wish). This isn't a debate as to which team is best, so lets keep those comments away from this thread (in fact, let's leave out ALL negative comments about teams we don't like).

My favorite team is the New York Yankees. I've been watching them since I was a kid on channel 11 (out of New York), back before TVs had digital tuners.

There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count, and those who can't.

    With understanding comes understanding.

If the saying is true that we are what we eat, aren't we all just cannibals?

Well...growing up in Pittsburgh I'm gonna say the Pirates. I had season tickets for quite a few years, as a matter of fact this is the first year that I have not had some sort of ticket package.

I also like the Washington Wildthings. They are a Frontier League team about 40 mins south of Pittsburgh. They got a really nice park and it's fun to watch 9 guys play because they love the game, not the money.

Hands down, the Atlanta Braves. My first baseball memories are from a game i saw in the old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. There is NOTHING i'd rather do on a friday night than sit In turner field with my chipper jones jersey on and root on my boys.

Like Jerry Seinfeld said, when you root for a team, aren't you really just rooting for laundry?

I don't have a favorite team that I pull for year after year, but certain players, managers, and the way they play will usually draw my interest. This year, I'm pulling for the Reds and Twins.

I've lived in Central Ohio all my life, and was born during the Big Red Machine's heyday, so the Reds are the team I get the opportunity to see most. This years lineup is vicious, with 2-5 being Larkin, Casey, Griffey, and Dunn. What's amazing is how well this team is doing despite the bullpen! Graves leads all MLB in saves (29), while the bullpen also has managed to lead all MLB in blown saves (20). They're on pace to obliterate the MLB records for both in the same year! They give up too many homeruns ... they could easily be at 45 - 50 wins right now and be well out in front.

As for the Twins, a local product (Allan Anderson) pitched for the Twins in their World Series title years of 87 and 91. Because of him (and Kirby Puckett), I watched a lot of Twins games growing up. I like the current Twins team, both because they're competitive despite the budget and the defense is amazing. Every time you watch the Twins play, you'll see something you've never seen before. I try to get up to Cleveland at least twice a year to catch an Indians - Twins game when they're in the state.

My dark horse favorite this year though is the Texas Rangers. I'd like to see Showalter succeed. He was fired from the Yankees the year before they won their first Series in the recent run, and then he was out of the Diamondbacks organization that he helped build the year before they won.

On the otherhand, if Hart fires Showalter, I guess it guarantees the Rangers will win it all in 2005.
