    TV instead of monitor?

Is there anyway I can hook up a tv so it serves the purpose of computer monitor? Any sort of adapter or something? I need to know for college because space is heavily limited.

Buy a video card that has a S-Video out...but TVs resolution is pretty poor, so they make a poor monitor. You are better off going the other way, make your monitor a TV. You can buy a TV card for pretty cheap. They also have LCD displays that are both a TV and monitor, but in my mind a TV card is a cooler idea because you can minimize the TV window and still watch it while using the PC.

So I'd just install a TV card in the back of my case, load the driver, hook up the cable or input, and watch tv while I cruise AO? How much?

Go to the HTPC section. Reviews, Driver mods, etc. Anything you need. Very informative.

BTW, if you were to go the S-Video route, use Powerstrip(an accessory for Windows). It lets you fine tune(very fine) your resolution to your TV. However, it is mostly used for HDTV's.

Trust me, take the expensive way out of this one... DO NOT GO CHEAP ON THIS. there are cords u can buy for like 20 bucks that u can hook it all up (my bro built me some) and even my 26" Flat Screen sucked. You couldnt read the icons or anything. Its fuzzy.... So get the Video Card with teh Video Out, or a TV Tuner Card

Unless your TV is a 50" HDTV then dont do it.

Standard TV resolution is 720x480 ... yeah, thats LOW!

HDTV's go up to 1024x768, which isn't amazing, but it doesnt look like garbage.

I suggest you spend the 350 bucks and get a nice huge 21" monitor online and use a HAUPPAGE tv card to get your TV signal.

My living has my TV for DVD reasons. But I also have a DIRECTV reciever on my computer station so I can watch TV while editing our paintball DVD's to break the monotony.

              Well, good news....for me atleast.

My roomate is bringing a TV and a laptop. I will have a desktop (probably my current computer plus a Fragbox for fun). He's more or less donating his computer space to the TV.

                'nuther question:

I went to a LAN party last night with a friend of mine. I used his computer for a few hours playing Unreal 2k3 or 2k4. However, I think it'd be really cool to run one at school. What would I need to set one up?

Are you talking about a lan party at a school? My school has a club where we have LAN parties like once a month and just recently had a big competition thing. The site is chs.pongclub.com All you need for a LAN is enough power, some hubs(i think we have 2 24 ports or more running at the school lans) and people with computer and network cords.
