First, they're NITRO cars. Gas = big no-no. There's many options for getting a nitro r/c car. You can go the ever-popular monster truck road and get a Traxxas TMaxx or an HPI Savage. You can also get a buggy or stadium truck. If you go down the first road, I don't really have any recommendations, since I have never had a monster truck. But if you go around the other one, you have a much larger selection. One good "beginner" nitro truck/buggy is a Duratrax Evader. It's available as a stadium truck or a buggy. I actually have a nitro Evader buggy, and it's not bad. Pretty much, go out and pick up a few R/C magazines and look through the reviews. Most popular r/c vehicles will be in there, and they generally say what kind of audience the kit is aimed at, so you don't go out and pick up a kit that you have to put together all yourself instead of a nice RTR package.

i, conicidentally, have one for sale. but, most local hobby shops will carry a wide range of RC cars. check that out. or, you can search online for stores that may sell them.

Actually, if this is your first hobby-grade r/c car, I'd get an electric first. The REAL r/c stuff handles a lot differently than your Radio Shack Special, so it's good to get used to it. Who knows, you may end up liking electric cars more, I know I do, though there's no replacement for the scream of a nitro engine at full throttle.
