    how long should i wait before declaring a piece of mail missing or stolen...

    i sent a money order on monday june 21 and it still hasnt gotten to its destination..do you think i should wait till tomorrow to see if it arrived there..or should i just report it lost in the mail?

    i sent it first class certified...i know the usps isnt the best service but i mean it usually gets to places in 3 to 5 days...and no more ..i dunno...i just want the guy to receive the m/o so i can get my mag already!!!!! arghhh frustrating

      Doesn't certified offer tracking? Perhaps I'm thinking of registered.

          Neither offers tracking. Certified mail just provides a record of delivery, with a return receipt available. Registered is secured mail, being maintained in locked containers or secured rooms during processing and transport.

          The delivery standard for first class letters is 5 days coast to coast. It can sometimes take longer. Id wait a while longer still. Another thought is to check with the post office at the destination to see if it was actually delivered. They keep a record of certified mail delivery. Id check that just to protect yourself from potential fraud.

              certified offers tracking..right now it states that it has been received at my post office ..and it offers no other information...so im guessing its still in transit and hasnt arrived at the destination post office... =oT but ill definitely give the post office a call...is there a way where i can contact them...

              btw im here in buffalo and the destination is georgia....i sent something to milwaukee and it got there in 3 days... i dont get why it didnt get to georgia in 3 days....its not that far compared to milwaukee is it?? but ya its just im worried that such a high amount of money is taking forever to get there

                  should take about 2-4 days. i sent something to cali priority and it never got there till about a week later soo ya know. hey you live in buffalo cool i live south of buff!! cool!

                          uhh..june 21'st was...3 days ago..and its only been 2,because it wouldnt have been sent out on monday,unless it was in your mailbox,or at the PO before 9 AM

                                      ummm according to my calender friday passed and its now saturday ...uhhh...im on the U.S east coast..i dunno where your living at but friday pased already and its saturday now (1230 am) ...soooo where you from? being that its not friday yet

                                          Oh, and if I can toss in one more comment, I don't think USPS allows you to claim it's lost at any time you wish. I think it has to have be 30 days or something long like that. Does anybody else know for sure?
