    Intellectual Property (Patents, copyright, etc.)

Okay, this is a subject I know nothing about. Most lawyers don't know anything about this stuff, and the ones who do charge like it. AO seems to be great thinkpot (a combination of melting pot and think tank that I think fits quite nicely ) so I'll toss this out here.

I would love to start a company that I'm confident would make hundreds of billions in a few short years. Wouldn't we all! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it might be.

I need protection from competitiors who would use my marketing method. You see, if I were to go about marketing my product in a certain way, everyone else in the industry would no-doubt follow suit, but if they do that, they'll squash me because they've been around for at least 20 years and have trillions.

Is there a way I can patent a system of marketing? I wish I could give out details, but suffice it to say we're talking about nothing more than a plan; and idea. I know "business methods" are sometimes patentable, but as far as I've read that's a fancy term for things pertaining to computer software. Any protection for me that any of you know of? Thanks!

-Don't try to use your fancy smancy "logic" on me! It won't work!

You may be able to patent certain phrases. But that would be like patenting using television for advretising, cannot be done.

If you want to start a company you need a lawyer.

      That's why there's legal deparments.

No, really, you should just get a good lawyer there to help you guys out.

On another note, don't you think hundreds of billions is a bit optimistic? That's like, more than Micro$oft....
