I had a cordless dremel brand, 2 speed and then was at Home Depot and found an awesome deal on a black and decker one, 6 speed up to 35,000 rpms and came with hundreds of attachments for 30 bucks. It has worked great with no problems at all.

As has been mentioned, be real careful anytime you're using the cutting discs, they do have a habit of busting on you and flying everywhere. Personally, in a cosmic twist of fate, I always slip on a set of paintball goggles when cutting with mine. If you can find them, get a few of the reinforced cutting discs, they're a lot safer. I don't remember what they're called, but they're a bit thicker and have hash marks on them like ripstop nylon.

I also find the cable extension extremely handy.

I don't know anything about the most recent line of dremels but the later gerneration of them sucked. Black and decker RTX ... this baby has WAY more torque and won't burn itself up like the 2 dremels I had.
