Alright, I started smoking cigars just after graduation. My dad got me a box of 15 Cohibas and between myself and my friends, we've managed to decimate the population of fine cigars in my humidor. So needless to say, I need some more. While I enjoyed the Cohibas, I think I'd prefer something with a fuller/stronger but sweeter flavor. I haven't tried much else besides the cheap stuff from the grocery store(mostly phillies), so I'm really a noob when it comes to cigars. There's a smoke shop in the mall where I work, so odds are, I can get just about anything. Any recommendations?

I had a Macanudo on the 4th... it was excellent, but I don't smoke cigars that often.
they're better with a good aged Scotch...

I second that!Originally posted by edweirdI no longer drink but I definatly smoke cigars on occasion still.

All the black label stuff from Fuente is great. However if your east of the MIssissipi river you might want to also try Fuente's OpusX line as well. However I prefer the Black label stuff to those....
Black lable for Fuente consists of the Don Carlos and Hemingway Lines. My personal favorites out of those are the Don Carlos #3 and the Hemingway Short Story.
Here is a link for you....

Yeah I snag on to Opus X's when ever I can its amazing what you can get in return for trade on them.
My favorite of the Hemingway ling is the signature, in the doncarlos line I stick with either of the medium sized robustos.
Oh and another for my recomended list:
Padron maduros (Oh and if ya can find them... Annivisario's)

I really don't want to sound like a jerk here, but python, why would your dad buy you cigars? I've always been told not to smoke and the same goes for all my friends. It's just weird to me to hear that someone's parents bought them cigars after graduation. Probably just different culters/traditions.

The instance of lung cancer amoung cigar smokers is far less then cigarette or pipes. If you smoke less then 1-2 cigars PER DAY and don't inhale, you're risk factor is barely different then a non smoker.
FYI - The average cigar smoker who gets lung cancer has smoked nearly 7 cigars per day, every day for the 20 years previous to getting cancer. It's close to the same for pipes, you have to average nearly 16 pipes per day....

I am in a similar situation as you. My friends dad gave me a cuban for graduation which I enjoyed very much. My school all drink and smoke weed, which I would never ever get into, and being 18 I smoke the occasional cigar when playing pool or hanging out with friends. Most of the ones I have had are just little swisher sweets. I have tried a few bigger ones, but never have found one I like. I enjoy the irish creme as well as the cherry ones, but can't find anything besides swisher sweets that I enjoy. Any idea?

My dad actually never really got into Cigars. I've already discussed his choice of "relaxant" before and would prefer to stay away from that topic
...eitherway, he asked me if there was anything I wanted for graduation besides a new fishing rod(an 11' Catmaxx combo), and I jokingly said a box of cigars. Two days later, he handed me a box of Cohiba DRs. I had smoked swishers and phillies before, but that was like once or twice....and those barely count as cigars.
I smoke maybe once a week, at most, and when I do, I usually smoke 2 cigars over the course of like 5 or 6 hours(poker night). And like Shooter said, cigars/pipes and cigarettes are like apples and oranges. A fine cigar every once and a while probably won't kill me.
Oh yea, I picked up a pair of La Gloria DRs to try. One is a nice maduro churchill and the other is an even darker Robusto. I haven't smoked em yet, but everyone I talked to at the smokers shop said they are a good choice.
Btw, I'm finishing off a Rusty's #5 right now that I got at the beach as I type. Believe it or not, it is really quite fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the smell and taste of a nice pipe, but doesn't want to deal with the pipe itself.Comment
