I love it when the goggle Nazis come out. First, if you are shooting a paintball gun and no one else is shooting at you, there is no need to wear a mask. The odds of getting something in your eye are about the same as a bubblebee coliding with your cornea. Second, if someone wants to take the risk, climb off their back. Its not your eyes. You kind of people are why I can't smoke in a freaking bar anymore, or even at my cigar club. Are you kidding me? Mind your own business first, as soon as you can live a perfect life, go agrivate someone else, but not until then.

And why exactly can't you smoke in a bar anymore? Because some lame complained too much about it, and the media made a big deal about it. You're making my point exactly! And there IS a need to wear a mask if some one is shooting AT you for exactly this reason. The more people (stupid and deserving or not) get hurt, the more restrictions will be placed upon us. I fire my gun all the time without a mask while chronoing, etc. I didn't say that was wrong, but sorry to ruffle your feathers Mr. Rooster, sir... BTW, I'm not a safety Nazi, but I'm glad I could aggravate you. By all means, feel free not to read this thread anymore if it upsets you.

Its not a good idea to show people shootin pb guns without masks. If i were a kid and saw that i would prolly think pb is cool and go buy a gun or borrow one and start shootin at my friends and one of us would lose an eye.
Hell the first time I played PB no one told me u should where eye protection. My friend and I were lucky. He had 2 splatmasters and he handed me 1 and we went into the woods and played for an hour or so. I thot it was fun. The first time I saw a guy use a mask I thot "what a wuss". I had no idea you could lose an eye or two until I went to a field.

well the majr problem here is that it is on TV where millions of people will see it. Gives people the idea that they can play aginst eachother without masks on. Which leads to eye injuries, which in turn makes the sport look really really bad. So it is better for the advancement for our sport to show people how it is properly done.

And the smoke Nazis say that kids learn to smoke from watching movies.

And yeh.. that commercial where Dale JR drove the Budweiser car onto the football field, and spun donuts, and scored a touchdown.. that gave NASCAR and football a bad name. Or that one commercial where they play football with no pads.. and and

Hmm. and Budweiser.. sponsoring a driving sport.. thats just not right either

You misinterpret my message as apathy. Unfortunately we face a social norm that currently believes that mob rule is superior. That somehow it is perfectly fine to steam-roll the rights of the few to satisfy the vocal minority. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that I'm too busy doing real work to be arsed with activism. I'm going to have to wait for the anti-socialist backlash, and boy do I hope its a good backlash. On the order of some public humiliation and punishment. In the meantime, when I see somebody doing something that they have every right to do, I'm going to do my part and mind my own business.

This might be a first but I totally agree with you. The smoking in a bar thing is funny. When I go to those types of places I expect to come out smelling like smoke/beer. Pretty soon we won't be able to drink alcohol in bars, if the trend keeps going.

The people behind the shows/commercials know the risks. That's why they have lawyers. Honestly it doesn't shoot down any "image" of paintball that hasn't been shown already. Fields do a good job as it is. For example in Utah the very first thing you initial to play says, "By initialing here you know that you may be injured and/or die playing paintball." The game is dangerous. These people doing the stunts know this and accept the responsibilty of their actions. We should not really care and mind our own business. If they get hurt, they were stupid and should of known better. It's simply life sorting out the stupid and weak.
