Does anyone actually back-up their DVD's

Just out of curiousity. Does anyone with a medium to large dvd collection actually go through the trouble of making back-ups?

A bunch of friends and I were talking and it seems like the cut off is around 50. People with under 50 dvds will make back-ups, people with 50+ won't. Just wondered what AO did.

FYI, I don't have a large collection at all. Maybe 80 or so, but I do have back-ups of all my movies. I started after having to buy Clerks and Officespace repeatedly.

well i put one in the dvd player and the rest on the shelf

hehehe I just don't want to sacrifice that much shelf space. I ended up just chucking all my dvd cases and sticking em in one of those CD book things that hold like 128. Much cleaner looking I think.

No, no! It's just in case somehting happens to the disc before I have a chance to send it back. I destroy the back-up as soon as the DVD's back in the mail..........as far as they know

my burner is a Plextor 708a
and it burns 4x media at 8x (certain brands)

i have to say i have saved tons of money being able to buy the slower media but have the fast speeds.

best burner i have owned yet.

Yeah I have a sony burner. Works well and I picked up new for $70. Think it's a 4x.

At the same time I found a spindle of 50 dvd-r's for $30. 4x I think. They so far have worked really well in terms of movie back-ups and hard drive backups.

for me it depends on the movie if its something i know i will always want i will but not too often.



for disks i go with Ritek DVD+R 4x

What programs does everyone use? I bought X copy platinum and really haven't tried anything else.
