I think her finances should be frozen and she should be forced to survive for a year working a minimum wage job at wal-mart or something similar.

I think she should do a show form her jail cell. She can show how to spruce up a dingy jail cell into a festive little cozy room.

Well its probably fitting. She was convicted of lying under oath. Doing more time than Clinton did for same thing.

The real reason they went after her in the first place was the accusation of trading stock with insider information. However they could not find enough proof she was ever told WHY she was told by her broker to sellher stock. She was just told by him to sell is what finaly was determined. Not the reason why which is the key to it being illegal. So in the end she herself was not guilty of insider trading, her broker was. But in the midst of it all she lied about the aledged presell order. Thats what she was convicted of. And believe it or not its not against the law to lie.... except under oath. And eventually thats what they convicted her of. Lying under oath. Thats all.

So probably the sentance is about right.

I remeber hearing a while back that one of the jury members on her trial had lied about having served time in jaol when he was being interviewed for his spot on the jury. What i heard was that her lawyers were pushing for a retrial due to this or something like that. Whatever came of that.

I think that's what her and her broker are going to do, appeal their cases. I thought I heard that she(and him) won't have to go to jail until then or something.

It's wierd, my family's close friend's brother knew her or something and got my sister her autograph. Alot of stuff has been hitting close to him(for this closer then w/ any other celeb)

Why is there so much hate directed at her? Is it just a bandwagon thing? I don't get it....

shes going to a federal prison whos majority of inmates are there for whitecollar crimes. its not like shes going to a state prison with women who are there for murder or other really bad deeds.

I don't think that it is necessarily meant to be directed soley at her. Shortly before Martha Stewart there were scandals that broke out about Enron, MCI and other companies where the CEOs, CFOs, etc. misled their employees, stock holders, the public, and the government. I think people are just fed up with corporate heads who get away with theft at a rate of millions while people are being convicted with harsher sentences for petty crime.

In one or both cases (Enron & MCI--I can't recall exactly), top execs were getting paid off millions in bonuses even as they claimed bankruptcy and couldn't afford to pay their employees. How fair is that?

To add to that, one of the Investigators/Prosecutions expert witnesses commited perjury about the ink testimony of the supposed "presell" order that she was accused of fabricating. However last week the judge denied a retrial on those issues paving the way for sentencing this week.

She made a very ill-thought out and greedy choice to save just 10s of thousands when she was a millionaire many times over. Now she's lost millions of those dollars and years of her life to boot. I often wonder if she would have been a nicer person that perhaps she wouldn't have been treated so harshly. It just goes to show that a smile goes a long way and a sincere "I'm sorry" to the public, and I stress sincere, I think really could have helped in leniecy.
