Look at how many cars chevy has to put in a race just to keep up with ford and ford still wins regularly in nascar. Chevy 18 cars, ford 10, dodge 15. If you look at truck racing ford uses 5.0 and chevy uses 5.7 and ford usually wins. Ford makes much better V-8's than Chevy.

Chevy's small block is legendary for screaming and staying together. A buddy I know builds pulling trucks, and says all pulling truck builders pretty much agree on this.

How many Chevy 350 crate and 383 stroker engines do you see in Ford restos? A LOT, and for good reason! Even Ford guys restoring old cars and trucks don't really want a Ford engine, unless they're going for the original flathead. This does work both ways however... How many Ford 9 inch rear ends do you see in Chevy muscle cars and 4X4s? Again, a lot. People like to use what works best, even if they are somewhat biased toward a certain brand name.

Ford has always built for torque and Chevy for HP in thier consumer engine market.

As to rodding? And thats not restoring by the way.... Well there are several other reasons. They are easier to fit for one. And who's rear end is always used to mate up to that Chevy in a Hot Rodded car? Fords.
