    Picking a new car.

Ok, so I've graduated and I'm looking for a job. When I find said job I plan on buying a new car. I figure I'll pick out a car now, so I don't have to worrie about car searching while I'm settling in to a new job.

I have likes and dislikes for the listed cars, but I want fresh opinions on them.

I realize that there are more cars than are on this list, but I did look over a huge range of vehicles and narrowed my selection to these for a reason.

    Thank you in advance.

For the prices listed I don't think I'd be hesitiating for the Subaru except: you can't get the RS with Side impact and Side Curtan airbags. All the other's I can. This bothers me.

I can get Airbags in the WRX version but that'll cost me something like 3-4k more. Minimum. :/

Side airbags are overrated and somewhat useless, unless you get hit from the side in exactly the right place and the other driver was going 55+. I got hit almost directly on the drivers door (and yes, i was driving) and the other driver was going est. 45 mph and i was fine w/o airbags. (did i mention he was driving a 3/4 ton ext. cab pickup. yea. hardcore.) go with the subaru, airbags on the side are hyped up by the car manufacturers. yes, they help in some cases, but as long as you are a smart driver and watch out side impacts won't happen. illl probably kill myself though if you get the subaru and get hit on the drivers side and die, so drive safely.

I dunno, the Curtans help protect you from the glass which is nice. They also go all the way back to the rear of the car.

There's also the question of maintenece. An AWD car has more mechanically to go wrong with it than a 2WD.

How exactly do you watch out for side impacts when you are driving. Its called an accident you cant really plan for those things.

Subaru has been doing this AWD thing for a while dont worry about it.

However the RS is a tad underpowered. if you push hard enough and show your dealer who is boss you can get a WRX for the right price. Its all about letting them know you will walk out if the price isnt right. Dont let them pull the "we cant sell below invoice" BS on you either. Diffrent dealers have diffrent incentives and get cars below stated invoice.

I'll keep it in mind, but the problem with the WRX is that the seats are to narrow for me to sit comfortably. That and the sunroof cuts into my headroom.

I drove the RS and it doesn't bother me at all. I'm happy with it's performance.

Have you looked into the new 05 legacys

They are very very smooth and refined. More room and side airbags.

I drove a 2.5 GT holy crap its the smoothest kick in the pants you ever recieved. The turbo seems to spool fully at 2500 rpm and just pushes you back into your seat linearly until redline.

                          Very quiet and very refined.

The 2.5i is probably even smoother since it has a plusher tire and suspension. No Turbo but also much cheaper.

The only problem is that you might have a hard time getting good pricing because they are still rolling off the boats.

Civic = too small, + hybrid = less trunk space.

                              I looked.

Also the Legacy is too expensive.
