More power to him... Hes already made MUCh more money than most people will ever see.

Manike-It's still early days. One thing for sure is that the future is going to be interesting, and we intend to be a BIG part of it.

i say leave him alone, hes made a ton of money, now he can do whatever he wants.

and besides, the good ol' pats have corey dillon now! every other team can just get prepared to be owned to the max.

He's a punk who is leaving his team high and dry because he is upset about the $650k fine for smoking pot!

I think he needs a whole skid full of ZOLOFT. He's riding the bus with Dimetrius Underwood and Bison Dele/Williams.
Maybe he'll hang with Jason Mewes and Bison and dissapear for awile.

Im sorry but he is garbage. Miami has been my favorite team ever since i can remember. Finally we had a solid running back and alot of people picked miami to win the east. Now the jerk is just gonna up and leave? Time to go back to the days of absolutly no running game in miami......

with what passing game they got..... since Dan Mario left they have lost all of there passing game and dont say fielder is good.... the only reason he did decent was because the defense was scared of Williams and yes the dolphins are my favortie team as well..... But the Dohlpins Defense is going to hold the team to a decent season

I too do not like fiedler as quarterback. He is horribly in-accurate. I think just about the only shot we got now is to take the millions that ricky was gonna make and try and pull down some one else. Still, i dont see us getting any big names and sadly i dont see us having even a decent year.

First of all, Big Rick is an awesome running back. Secondly, him leaving the NFL has little to do with somking marijuana. Ricky Williams is a free spirit...a wierd, anti-hero type that never wanted the spotlight. At Texas he shined because he got to live in an alternative style of city and be a big part of a team full of good players. He was their star, but not their savior. Everywhere he went in the NFL, everyone wanted him to be "the man" and that was just not his game. I think the guy is an enigma in his strange behaviors, but a good man none the less. I think it's cool he had the courage to walk away from something he loved doing and was known for, simply because he found something else that inspired him more. He didn't let his profession trap him into a life he no longer wanted, nor did he become one of these sad athletes that only have their sport in their lives and hang on too long. He came, he saw, he led the league in rushing. That was enough for him. While I will miss watching him play, I respect the fact he decided what was best for him and did it. Who wouldn't want to play a game for a couple years, make a ton of cash, then retire and travel the world focusing on having fun and working on their hobby (his was photography)? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

                        Best of luck Rick.

As sudden as Williams was in announcing his retirement, he could just as easily show up at training camp on Saturday and be ready to play. Ricky is like that - and I won't consider his retirement official until the Dolphins take the field in Week 1 and he's not on the roster.

As for the suggestion that he is retiring to dodge his $650K substance abuse fine (2nd offense), he's likely going to get sued by the Fins for the remaining 3-years on his contract for well over $3M. I think when Miami's lawyers come calling, it could provide him with a little incentive to change his mind. Miami has a contract through 2006, and the timing couldn't have possibly been any worse than the week after Eddie George was signed by Dallas, and a week before training camp opens.

Ricky was always in the lowest tier of the salary structure because he had a horrible, incentive laden contract (which he never met the first two seasons in New Orleans), a lesson to be learned in hiring a rap singer as an agent. Miami will sue, and when Ricky realizes he'll be bankrupt if he retires, he'll report to camp. He's not in the drivers seat like Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, or Robert Smith were. Their contracts were up or in their final year, Ricky's isn't.

Im pretty sure they can sue him for retiring and if they did he could counter sue and make a crap load more money.
