I think we should start a GMail invite thread. Someone start off by inviting me, then when I can give invites, I'll pass it on to the next person on the list, and it goes on and on. Yes no?

I keep hearing about this Gmail thing, whats so special about it besides the fact that you have to be "invited" in and you have alot of storage space? I hardly use any space on my current email account now???????????

well as you stated you get 1gb of mail storage.
you can send a email up too 10mb which is currently what my internet providers max storage space is.
very easy to use interface.
i really like it. the space and file send size is really important to me. I send a lot of firefighter training programs, pictures, videos to other firefighters.
also a cool thing i do is whenever i travel and i want to show someone a video or something i have on my home computer all i have to do is get on any computer in the world, fire up gmail and its there. you have pleanty of storage where you dont have to worry about deleting you mailbox."The Few Who Do Are The Envy Of The Many Who Only Stand And Watch"

When you get right down to it, it's just another web mail service. Since it's currently a beta test, you have to be invited. At some point, the test will be completed and it will be open to all.
Not being a hotmail or yahoo mail user, I can only comment on things I have seen in gmail.
It threads the views, grouping mail into conversations.
You don't have folders, you have labels. You can apply mutiple labels to a single message. This is great when you have a message sent to two mailling lists for example.
You get 1000MB (1GB) of storage. The idea is you don't have to delete mail, you just archive it and are able to search it later. This is important to some people (me included).
I personally use gmail to deal with a large number of mailing lists for different things (software, security, etc...). This allows me to seach my gmail archive to topics.Comment
