    The future for me...?

I'm 16 and I want to retire by the time I'm 40, and not need to worry about money ever again after that point. But, untill that point, i'm willing to work as much as I need to (as long as i get the neccesary sleep ).

So, any ideas? I know that high-risk oppurtunities yield the most money, but I'd like something with minimal risk and as much stability as possible.

    Serious answers only, please.

    -mjs

    PS: Yes, I'm quite bored..
    PPS: Maybe a physician?

You've asked the question everyone wants the answer to. I suggest you take up a life of celebacy and join a fraternal order of monks. That is the only way I know of that you can retire before the standard age....ofcourse you'll be dirt poor and have to beat off constantly, but hey, it beats working.

Male Nurses are in very high demand right now, and likely will still be by the time you get up there. Of course, everything medical brings good money, and if you play your cards right with college loans/grants/etc, you can get off without having to pay most back. Use that as a nest-egg, and be frugal while you are raising a family. You can retire by 40-45, if you do it right.

but check out Radiology... I got a friend who's son went into radiology, got his certification, and hasn't looked for work 1 day since. He's actually had multiple job offers on the table to choose from at once.

Go to college and become a lawyer or doctor. Nothing else really compares, except if you get into buying businesses or real estate. If you don't go to a 4 year college, chances are, you'll never retire before you're 40.

You can retire when you're 18.

Im getting ready to go into the Nuclear Training Program in the Navy in January. It is one of if not the hardest academic programs in any of the armed forces to get into. The training is highly valuable (physics, thermodynamics, calculus, plant operation theory, ect.) FOr the first two years of your Navy carreer you are attending college level classes in Charlston SC. By the time you finish your two years in the "pipeline" you will almost have enough credits to get a BA. You then have just a 4 year obligation to the navy. Perks include automatic E-3 paygrade at enlistment, up to a 12k signing bonus, and re-enlistment bonuses up to 60k.

However the best part will be if you get out after the 6 years. With your experience and training, you will be able to get a job at power plants (ANY power plants be it steam, water, nuclear, ect) making upwards of 80k a year. While all my friends are still going to be looking for jobs in their chosen field of study and paying off student loans I will be making at least 75k a year at the age of 25, NTM I should have a little nest egg stored up from my military carreer.

This is of course in a perfect world. So I still have my backup options such as going to college after I get out using the GI Bill. But hopefully nothing dramaticly(sp?) changes.

Oh yeah forgot to say my point.
                  *begin point*
You might ought to start researching all of the oppurtunities out ther especially in the military. You can recieve training like none other and you can get into any program you want as long as your not mentally retarded. Look at me, Ill be operating a nuclear reactor. Doesn't that give you a comforting feeling knowing that reactors are being handled by 19 year olds fresh out of High Shcool?

Hahaha, just make sure you find a wife with a cooler name than "Heinz," though.

Anyway, two words: venture capitalism. Very cool. What it basically is is you work for a big company and do research into entrepreneurs and business, and you take that big corporations money (if it's all approved) and you throw it around. Most of the time, the small company flops, but thats ok, because you can try again next time, with even more money. Eventually, you'll get some luck and the company you fund strikes it big, you get rich, and drive expensive European sports cars and marry some hot babe.

                        Whaddaya think?

Yea, i'm considering becoming a Radiologist or an Orthopedic Surgeon...

But, the Millitary option is very unlikely. You see, I'm jewish, and thus have a jewish mother. Now, for anyone out there who has a jewish mother, you know how worried they get over anything.... 'nuff said

Best. Quote. Evar. Heh I already meet the 2 requirements, I might just go for that

and lmao at the Kerry references.

But also, even though the point of retiring at 40 is to have fun with the rest of my life, I still want a job that I enjoy doing. So, no desk jobs. Grrr @ teh desk jobs.

Thanks and keem 'em coming untill this thread dies a slow death due to me forgetting to reply (most likely, ).
