A friend of mine just got his first book published.

It's pretty cool, this book was written years ago and he finally got it published. Pat has been a friend of mine (from the gym we belong to) since 89. We've talked about this for years so it's cool to see it in print.

I haven't had a chance to read it yet, so I can't vouch for his writing skills, but it seems to be getting good reviews.

It's a fictional story about Butch Casidy and the Sundance Kid after they were supposedly killed in South America.

I can picture Robert Redford and Paul Newman
I have always enjoyed watching Robert Redford and Paul Newman work together as actors. Specifically I remember the Sting. This book has humor, adventure and the typical antics of Redford/Newman. Their characters really come through in this book. I am looking forward to seeing this book come alive on film!!!

        OUTSTANDING!!!!!
What a wonderful first novel! I started reading it and couldn't put it down! I was spellbound from the first word to the last word. I really loved the characters. I can't wait to read Pat Naville's next book!!!!

        Buckle Up!
This book kept me turning the pages long after I should have been in bed asleep. I was afraid I'd miss something if I put it down! From the filthy, disgusting bandito, Ramon, that Butch and Sundance encounter in the jungles of South America, to the beautiful Etta Place, to the cold- blooded killer, Frank Nitti; the characters in this book come to life with action and dialogue that makes you hate them; love them and laugh or cry with them. Naville's descriptions of the places he takes to you are so real that you feel the heat and humidity in the jungles, or the sting on your cheeks on the cold, snowy streets of Chicago. Kudos to this new author!

        Outstanding!
This was a book that made me cheer for the good guys and totally despise the bad guys! Butch and Sundance take up their lives where the movie left off, and Naville delivers the action in spades. His portrayal of Frank Nitti is the ultimate in the evil ways of a low-life scum bag. The action jumps out, grabs you by the throat and says, 'Take THIS!' For a first-time author, Naville has smacked one out of the park. I look forward to more of his work.

        An outstanding debut!
Wow! What a great first novel! Naville will touch a cord with a broad segment of readers. 'Echo Whispers' spans a wide range of genre, thus is somewhat difficult to pin down. I had always thought a sequel must come from the same author, however this work certainly fills the bill as it creatively and seamlessly picks up where 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' ended. I had also thought of 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' as a Western, and, while it may be, 'Echo Whispers' pops right out of the mold without losing the flavor. The cross-cultural shift for the characters as they leave Bolivia and return to the United States gives an almost time-warp feel. Naville's eye and ear for Prohibition-era Chicago seems right on target. I was particularly intrigued with the smooth and skillful incorporation of historic characters of the period into the fabric of the plot. Western? Mystery? Action/Thriller? I'm not sure. What I do know is if you are looking for a well-written, exciting and thouroughly entertaining story, 'Echo Whispers' is for you.

Thought a few of you might want to read the back cover....

                      When Worlds Collide
The year is 1928. The Roaring Twenties are nearing an end. Prohibition has fueled a thirst for illegal drink like this country has never seen. Frank Nitti is Al Capone's right-hand man. His white-hot temper and fondness for the cold-blooded killing of his victims, surpassed only by Capone's own murderous rampages, has earned him the title of, "The Enforcer."
Two old, and once famous outlaws, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, have returned to the United States from South America. They have been in hiding for the past twenty years letting the world believe that the two American bandits who were killed by Federale troops were them.
The violent course is set when Nitti has a run-in with Butch and Sundance on the steamship during their voyage home. He vows to kill the two if their paths ever cross again.
Follow the trail of the two old outlaws from the steamy jungles of South America to the final bloody encounter with Nitti on the cold, wet streets of Capone's Chicago.

Pat Naville's ECHO WHISPERS presents itself with bold authenticity; a sharpness of barbed wire and the clearness of a spring morning. It is an honor to welcome such a gifted storyteller to the fold.
