Alright, I got back from my church service trip yesterday(it was great). My new computer was finally done so I went to pick it up yesterday. I get it home and everything is peachy. Well, almost. I had to go get a network cable and powerstrip but big dea.
Anyway, so today I go to get a new monitor, router, a couple games(DOOM 3!!!!), and a few other things I need. I went to staples because they are close and they have what I need anyway. So get everything I need and go to checkout. I write a check for it(Total came out to about $800) and everything is swell until they tell me that "Certegy" did not approve it. Not because I was short on funds(My last balance was $3200 a week ago), but because I have never written a check at a store that uses Certegy. So I have to call up Certegy on my cell phone and talk to some dude from India for about 10 minutes, only to find out there is nothing that can be done to fix it and I have to find another method to pay for it. I kindly tell the manager(who was now helping me)there is nothing I can do and sorry, but I'm leaving. So I get to lunch late and my friends have all ordered and some are already eating. The restaurant is out of Buffalo wings so I have to get chicken strips covered in sauce. They are just straight up nasty. Then when we go to Baskin Robbins, I don't have enough cash for Icecream and none of my friends have enough either, so I'm poop-outta-luck.
After lunch I go to Bestbuy to get the stuff that I couldn't buy at Staples. They don't have the monitor I want, and it would take 3 weeks to get the one I want(I need one NOW), so I get the 17" version of the monitor. Then I can't find the router I needed(Linksys 4-port), so I have to go with D-link which I've never had experience with before. They also don't have the Cat5 cable I need, so I had to go next door to Target to get it. Luckily neither Target nor Bestbuy have problems with my check. I even got a Gift Certificate from Bestbuy.
I get home and everything is peachy until I try and install my games(Doom 3, UT2k4). My friggin' CD-RW won't read them. So try and call up the guy who built my comp and he isn't there. So now I have to wait until tomorrow to play these games.
Then I go to the Dump to see if I can find some metal to make a cool desk/chair combo for my new comp and monitor, but the guy who I usually talk to is on vacation and the fill-in won't let me in because he says "I look like the type who'd steal something".
Damnit, just one of those days, ya know?
BTW, Computer specs are.....
AMD XP Athlon 3000+(gonna OC sometime this week)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
120 gig Maxtor HDD
512mb ddr(kingston)
CD-RW(doesn't work)
3.5" floppy
Soundblaster Audigy 2
Asus A7N8X-x mobo
V-tech X-ray case(Blue Cold cathodes)
