I was at a GameStop today (Monday) and it was packed at about 8pm. I totally forgot that Madden 2005 comes out Tuesday but apparently the store was gonna sell it early and so naturally, the hordes of people show up to get in on the action. I lost my drive to play Madden years ago but I wonder which game is better, Madden 2005 or ESPN 2K5.

If word gets out that they are selling the game early, they are in very serious trouble, I remeber reading in GamePro(or was it EGM) that video game stores that sell games early, could be charged a really hefty fine. Oh, the only football game I have every really played would be NFL Blitz 2000. sorry I didnt answer your question.Comment

As a former manager of a Babbages (AKA Gamestop), this only applies if another retail outlet throws a fit. What usually happens is most store have the games on the Monday before at the latest, with some smaller non-chains getting them the day of.
Street date while somewhat important isnt enforced as much as it is in the music business. While we never broke street date ourselves, I always had an employee goto the bigger stores (Best Buy, CompUSA, etc) to see if they were selling. If they broke street date then we broke street date.
The last time anyone considered reporting a violation of street date that I remember was the release of Dreamcast, and that was simply because Babbages/Software ETC had 75% of the incoming Dreamcasts and they didnt want to get screwed out of reservation sales and such.

ESPN 2k5, try and beat that game for that price. And I've also heard that Madden is just the same game again, and ESPN out-performs it.Comment

I've heard that Madden is a little better, but not too much. ESPN has a big advantage because its only $20.Have Xbox Live? Check out LiveGamers.net (We're oh so lonely on the forums there)Comment
