I just turned 14 and have been thru a 2k3 shocker sweet ule custom to my current baby 2k4 dye trix. I have mowed lawns 2 times a week for my house (20 a week cash 20 in savings) and then randomly for ppl going out of town for a lil while or that kinda thing.... I also clean the bathrooms in my house if anything that should make you think " Wow that 14 year old kid is willing to clean bathrooms for pball guns".I've saved every penny i ever touched to be able to do it... I also for my trix worked out a deal where my mom bought it and then i paid her back until it was all payed off... If you really want money(as stated above) you will ALWAYS find a way...
Just cuz your 14 means you cant have a 7/hr paying job it dosent mean you can mow lawns, clean bathrooms, rake leaves, and wash cars i mean anything and everything has been done by me to be able to have the markers i have.

to everyone else: trust me. my parents have not raised me to become a spoiled brat. i personally pay for all my paint, (evil ultra), all my hpa and co2, and yes, i am charged to pay 33% of the food my family consumes, and yes, my parents charge me to live at my house. theyve been doing this since i was 12 to train me for real life. and yes, you're all right, it is extremely hard to save with your monetary funds being whittled down with that. but i have a seperate account to pay for those things, and I DO HAVE $16,000 SAVED IN MY COLLEGE FUND.

[QUOTE=tony3][QUOTE=danoxide]FYI: you won't be able to walk a MECH mag either...or atleast untill the hair comes out...also, mags are considerded gas hogs of higher markers....so will you just want a new gun after the mag?
well if you just get a ULE RT pro then you only need MAYBE 200 more tops...that cuts what you THINK you need in half...and then maybe later when you can test out the real world and work, pay bills, take care of a family, and maybe still have time for paintball then get the body and trigger frame you really want...whats the difference if you have a ULE body or a Karta? last time i checked the gun still did the same things...you think you need money now, just wait untill some of those things i listed before start to happen, not to mention that you will be paying car insurance and gas...then see if you have money....

What the hell are you talking about? We are kids, WE DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT BILLS ETC, that is why we are kids! Just because I have nice stuff doesn't mean I don't appreicate it or know about "the real world". I think it will just make us appreicate our money/work more and work harder when we are older. Saying stuff like that just makes me laugh, what do you want? Your kids to help you pay bills?
oh, and btw, even tho hes backing me up, i dont particularly agree with tony3s views.

Sometimes, when reading posts on boards, I'm reminded of my scenario team's motto:

                DICIS LUDIFICATIO

Which loosely translates from Latin to mean... "Appearances are Deceiving"...

alright here's what I did at your age,
go down to ur local field, and between games shovel paint, clean the carpets, box paint, help the ref's if there swanpted what ever... it may seem like a waste of time where your doing it any all your friends are playing, (trust me I cleaned the field carpets for 10 paints balls ) but its shows that your have determination, and responcibilty, and that's gotta impress any boss

                      Hey there WGPForLife,

First off, I don't really think I flamed you at all... At the time I thought that you owned that marker. Now that I know you don't, it makes it a whole different story. One of the problems in the paintballing community today is this concept of "gun whoring." People use a marker for 3 weeks and then trade it for something else. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. It's sickening to me. I just can't believe that some people are so brainwashed by advertisements that they always want something new. Someone can save and save and save for that DM4, but the minute they have it they want something newer and faster and shinier.

Okay, here are my suggestions. Since you have a limited budget, try getting something which, even at base level, will perform well. Make sure that you can upgrade performance on it as you need. People buy Alias Timmies (overkill in the first place) and then ABSOLUTELY HAVE to get every freaking accessory for it. I recommend that you try a different path.

Check out an Evil Omen. They're about $350 new. They have all the features that a new speedballer like you will need and none that you won't. You won't have to worry about chopping or timing, as the marker is simple and the CAM system is almost foolproof. (I say almost because some morons don't read the instructions and then ***** and moan about their omens chopping.)

Once you start playing tournaments more consistently, check out a few of the less expensive upgrades. The 1.5 board. The flush cocking system. The HALO cam arms. Perhaps a clamping feedneck. All of these are small purchases with big performance gains. You won't need them at first, but you'll appreciate them when you buy them.

If done right you'll have an awesome marker for half of the price of a new Shocker or Intimidator.

                      Just a thought.

                      Jacob

P.S. - this is not a flame, but let's be serious. $16,000 for college? You didn't earn that on your own buddy! (unless you get >$1000 birthday checks)
My AIM Intimidator is better than your Automag. Get over it.

I have seen by the truckloads (or in this case Mercedes full of kids that have had everything lavashed upon them, with little or no effort on the childs part. Having a Mercedes, the best computer, the best paintball gun, doesn't make you appreciate things. Just owning it doesn't cut it. I'm not saying that all teenagers should go out and get a job, or whatever, but I find it extremely irresponsible for a teenager to live in their own world and have their parents do everything for them. There comes a time to grow up.
Who pays for paint? Entry? Gas to the field? You may not have to worry about bills, but to say "we are kids, so we shouldn't have to worry about the cost of things" is just plain spoiled and certainly will not teach you anything you would use when you are older and FORCED to be responsible.
I go to Benet Academy private school, which is yah, loaded with rich, spoiled kids. Kids come to school in every expensive car you can think of. I have seen plenty of spoiled kids at this school as well. They didn't pay for that stuff. I did pay for all of my dm4, all of the rest of my gear. I don't know what you are trying to say. Are you implying that I'm spoiled or something? It is hard to call someone spoiled over the internet when you have NO IDEA about their lives or their parents income. My dad drives me to the field every weekend and I am grateful for him doing that. I have offered him money for gas, and lunch after I play, and he turns it down. So please don't call me spoiled at all.

second off what are you going to say when you went out and bought that new DM9(the year you might have to start paying bills) and you got the awsome marker but then you have no money for house payments...or to feed your kid? what would you tell your wife? now im not tryin to say don't go out and spend 600 bucks on a marker when your 13 and have no expensises what so ever, but remeber...watch the stealthness of the ninja (or watch how fast paintball goes to the back burner when you grow up alittle) ill let you pick...
ummm even though you are just a kid could you say one word for me...the word is owned..
Sorry, I was trying to delete some of the mindless garbage at the end of your post and must of delete one of the tags.

How about this? Once I have to pay for my house payment, gas bills, water bills, phone bills, and car payments, I will stop spending so much on paintball? I realize that in a few months I'm going to have to start paying car payments and gas, and guess what? I will! I have a sense of what I'm going to have to start paying when I get older. I have nothing else to spend the money that I earn on stuff besides paintball. I got lots of money in the bank, and I don't think their is anything wrong with buying a expensive gun.

ok as i see in your sig your getting a gun for 531 or w/e, a tank for 189 and a hopper for 150...or thats what your looking at

                            1) have you ever looked for already used items, you can find very good deals in those

                            2) 150 on a hopper?! you getting a empire b or w/e the hell its called? you don't need that expensive of a hopper for a rt mag, stick with like a halo b at the most. you still won't even out shoot that.

3)if you can make friends with someone with many markers and find a good one that they don't use so you can buy it off of them for cheap.

It's going to be tough until you can actually get a job. Before i had a job, I would buy stuff then sell it and just do that. Now i have a minimum wage job which is descent and keeps me going with funds, but when i turn 16 in Jan. I'll be getting a 10.20/hour job. It'll get easier as you go along. Your best bet is just to tough it.
