Possible replacement for the AK-74 ... well if Russia had more money :)

From military.com .... uses a similar cycle function to the HK-G11, ungodly burst mode ROF and better overall range on the AK-74.

The AN-94's unique rapid reloading system (image from original patent for the rifle): After the first shot is fired, the barrel/receiver is recoiled partially, the first cartridge case is ejected, and the second round is stripped from the magazine.
    1. Cartridge in the magazine
    2. Cartridge feedway
    3. Bolt
    4. Barrel assembly, attached to the recoiling receiver
    5. Pulley
    6. Steel cable links the cartridge rammer to the bolt carrier
    7. Cartridge in the feedway, ready to be chambere

    Awsome,
but you can get ak-47's anywhere, these are harder to find, I'm guessing, and they are more expensive

      Been there, rejected that.

The Johnson rifle from the '30s had a short life in the Marines prior to WWII. It used the recoiling barrel system. Biggest problem; in order for the barrel to adequately recoil from the short impulse of firing, it must be made light and thin. This brings about overheating problems, and an easily bent barrel (nothing is soldier proof).

Meh, keep the '74 Rusia. No sense in mucking up what already works.

Reliability? The AK-47 originally became famous because it was impossible to kill. Even through neglect and wear and tear, the gun would fire without jamming.

any body notice that its closed bolt....that should make it more accurate

yeah looks pretty durable but i doubt its anything like an AK.

old news, they even had a demonstration of this rifle on the history channel durring a whole show about AK's. I think you can use it in Ghost Recon too.

ARMY said it best. My experiences with the AK's were pretty good. You could drag them through mud, water, etc and they'd still shoot.
