Graphing calculators.. [ti-86/89 vs HP 49g+]

I need to get a new calculator for school, seeing as I passed on my old 86 to my sister cuz she lost hers or broke it or something. I figured I'd get another 86 or maybe an 89, as I know how to use the 86 pretty well and the 89 is supposed to be a step up from it, so I assumed no extra functions are a bad thing. But the HP 49g+ kept popping up, and it looks like a sweet calculator for the money, with all the stuff it can do. Anybody have experience with both of these and can offer an opinion? Thanks.

    hmm

well i have a ti-86 and the ti-89. the ti-89 in my opinion is easier to use, and from what ive noticed alot of my classes focus around texas instruments calculators. id say go with the ti-89 but make sure its texas instraments so you can be compatible with everyone else.

Doesn't the "TI" imply... well... TI?

The 89'll do just about anything you need to do, unless you get super-specialized or high up there in the math classes.

          TI stands for Texas Instruments.

I had an 86, pretty much the only one in the entire school. Meant no games for me .

Anyway, I say go with the 89, just because 86s don't seem to be as popular, and 89s can do a LOT more. 83+s are also pretty good. I just remember making fun of the 83 kids because my 86 can do 100 graphs and the 83s only do ten. I am a nerd, I know this.
