Do not buy Bose, unless you get the 901's, no other Bose speakers are worth the money.

And in cheap speakers, I would take JBL over Polk, but that is just me.
Don't waste your money on Bose. They're mostly marketing hype...mostly a 'cool' image, poor bang for the buck in way of performance when compared to other brands at the same price point. The Bose FAQ is an interesting read as well.

Me, I prefer Magnepan's , but they might melt your receiver, and they're out of your price range.

I'd save your pennies until you can spend more than $200. You get what you pay for. For example, should you spend $100 on an e-Spyder? Or would you be happier if you spent more on an E-Mag, B2K2, e-Blade, etc?

Another option to investigate is visiting some of your local audio shops (not Best Buy or Circuit City, but specialty shops). They often will have used/traded-in equipment for sale and sometimes offer some sort of warranty on it.

Another magnaplanar fan Note that I listed them in my "fun to listen to" post a few above. good speakers, but they need a BIG amp to work right, and only the larger ones do any sort of real bass. But the soundstage and imagining are excellent.
