Can I hook my Xbox up to a wireless router?

I'm waitning on my Xbox to arrive, and it has a subscription to Xbox live. I have DSL, and we have a wireless broadband router hooked up because we have another desktop computer in our house. It's a Linksys WRT54G (link: http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=35&prid=601).

So my question is, if I plug in the little antenna thing into the ethernet port of the Xbox, will I be able to play Xbox live? Or does it require software to be installed first? I didn't hook it up so I have no idea how it works.

    Thanks.

Hrmmm that's what I was afraid of. Oh well, I just bought a 25 ft ethernet cable off of Ebay for $7, shipping included, so it's not that bad. I was really suprised about how cheap ethernet cords are on ebay, I was expecting more in the $20's range.

Is there any way to hook up the ethernet cord to a computer with the router antenna attatched to it? Because we have a computer somewhat close to our tv downstairs, but it's not the main computer with the router. Oh man this is becoming mroe complicating than I originally thought .

If you need alot of ethernet cable, buy bulk and crimp it yourself...It takes five minutes to learn and ends up giving you 1000 feet of cable at whatever lenghts you'd like!

Crimper and cable isn't the best quality, but it certainly gets the job done!

          Only 42.50.

Or you could use a wireless bridge like the linksys WET11. Those go for as low as 70 new.

BTW that's solid core Cat5e, that's bad news for patch cables. You really want stranded for anything that's going to be not punched down (like in wall wiring).

That "Router" has a 4 port switch on the inside interface. You can just plug the X-Box into one of those ports. You do not need to use wireless if you can get a cable to the WRT54G. If you can't get a wired connection from the X-Box to the WRT54G you will have to get some sort of device to put the X-Box on the wireless network.

You can hook anything to anything...

                    The results however are variable

way back in the day of Black and White TV and only one in the entire house my sister decided to hook a rope up to the TV and a rocking chair.... and then proceded to rock.... the TV of couse came off the stand and was smashed.

No TV for a while.... and one Sister with a lot of mysterious bruises that she tried to blame on us other two kids... but we never got caught.... I mean... we didn't do it.

We indeed asked that very question at the time.... although not as nicely as you are now... and we never did get a satisfactory answer to that. We finaly chaulked it up to a Pre-Pubescent Brain Fart.

I'm bought to buy that. I've crimped my own cables before. Not hard to do. After awhile you'll get real good at it. Start making some money of it, buy it in bulk and sell it on ebay.
