what do you know about spud guns?

built my first today.. shot my first yesterday... I want to make one that no one will believe.

Truck mounted self loading, full auto. I'm thinking it should look like a 20 mil gun and shot about as fast. anyone think I can build a contraption that will turn a potato into a mortar round?

I've looked around on the internet. Everyone that's experimented with proto types thinks that's building tato guns is so hard they can make money off building them for ppl. So they won't give out any info. Yeah, 20$ and a hour later I had a good durable tested design working.

I made one awhile back that worked off of CO2. Pretty fun to mess around with. Very basic design.

I like the CO2 idea better than spark plugs because it 'sounds' safer... At least you don't have to worry about your hairspray blowing up in your face.

The problem with hairspray is that it will eventually gum up your igniter.

Right guard I hear works g00d, the plain stuff supposedly doesn't leave a residue...dunno

my friend used one of those mini green propane tanks. filled a dump chamber and ignites it with a small push start. A red button that every time pressed shorts with a small spark.

Potatoes or in our case sidewalk chalk flys farther then ICBM
