    Skunk problem

There's a skunk living by/under/(in?) my house, and everytime it sprays my entire house smells of it. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

    What I did.

Get ahold of a live trap, use some meat to catch it.

Take a tarp and put it over the cage tie rope to cage securely. Get large shovel and carry it to a creek or river. Put cage in water till kickin stops. It will still be alive but lifeless. Dump out of cage then bash head/neck with stick.

Here's an idea, get a female black cat and put a white stripe down it's back. Let the cat walk around and the skunk will see her and start singing to her in a French accent. At that point, the cat will try to get away, but the skunk will chase after her trying to win her over!

Sorry, had a looney Toons moment.

Call animal control, you'll never know if it has any disease or infection like rabies.

No Man! There is no reason for you to kill it. Just catch him in a havahart trap, Tarp him up, drive him about 5-10 miles and let him go. He doesn't know any better.

Get a few big bags of top soil and figure out where all of his holes are...

1-Get some sulfer smoke bombs (don't remember where we got them, but they're meant to suffocate and kill animals like this).

2-Open all doors and windows in your house (especially if you have a basement) as a precautionary measure.

3- Get a friend to help you or be quick about it...

4- Light the smokes and shove them as far down the hole as you can. You might want to use something other than your hand as these probably aren't very fun to hold.

5- Dump the bag of top soil and pack it down HARD with a shovel... You don't want the smoke seeping out.

6- Do this on every hole in rapid succession.

This should kill all the skunks in there. And oh yeah, make sure you do it during the hottest part of the day so you KNOW they are inside.

-Another thing I heard works is to soak rags in ammonia and place them in and around the hole. It will smell awful for you yes, but skunks don't like it either.

I never realized how cute and cuddly skunks look, until I woke up with one 6 inches from my face last summer. Twice. I remember in my half-stupor thinking "now how in the hell did a cat get into my tent... ooooohhhhh crap..."

Damn goldfish... lesson learned: skunks like goldfish. The second time, too.

Hey I almost have the same problem. A skunk passed threw our drive way and it smells so bad.

Note, I hear skunks can shoot over 50 ft away with great aim. They'll stand on there hine legs as a warning sigh.

Why does it keep spraying? We had one living under our deck for about a month before we figured out it was eating the dog food, so we brought in the food and it left on its own. Never sprayed once the whole time it was there.

buddy of mine had a skunk problem. we tried all the nicey nice live trap methods and none of them worked.

well after we got tired of it repeatedly spraying, a 12 guage fixed the problem.

                    last resort but it worked.

                            Its awful...

It just sprayed and its so bad I'm almost gagging. I'm not sure why it keeps spraying though. The other night I saw it and it just ran away and didn't spray me . Shooting it is out of the question, no gunfire allowed in town. I think I'll borrow a trap.
