    lol,

just a friendly warning... you're gonna end up with a skunk in a trap and no way to tarp him up!

they spray when they're in danger or cornered to protect themselves. Being stuck in a cage and then having someone throw a tarp over you will definatly result in you getting skunked

so if you're in the mood for getting sprayed or smelling like that in person, keep a vid camera on hand so we all can laugh at you!

otherwise dont use a live trap.. it will get caught in it and there wont be any way to go near it, feed it, move it, or release it for that matter without getting the skunk to spray you... it'll just end up starving to death in the trap which is more cruel than killing it in any other way.

RenagadeOfFunkRTPcf: Ouch, that was harsh, but I smell very nice thank you very much.

        Bad_Dog: Good point.

Think it might just leave on its own?

I in no way condone shooting animals with paintballs normally (never shoot anything that's alive and not wearing a mask ) but when I could not get rid of the two skunks in my yard that were constantly fighing and spraying the racoons, I shot them up really good one night. I put a strong light on one and shot it until it ran far enough into the woods I couldn't hit it anymore.

Neither of them came back that year.

Ummm... Skunks don't spray out of their butts. They have 2 vents near, but not in, the rectum.

You could also try an Owl. Skunks are terrified of them since they are a primary predator. Don't know how you could get your hands on a real one and manage to keep it around, but they sell decoys which could work very well. It may catch on pretty quick though...

This is your best option. Go to Farm & Feet or some other large store and find a foam owl... it should be around ~$5-10 at the most. Make sure you put it out in the open where its very visible, and if needed put a nightlight outside either behind it against a wall or directly on it so that the skunks see its silouette...

Then you wont have to worry about squirrels either... or chipmunks... or rabbits..... or anything else smaller than owls

I know you said no gunfire in your city or somthing, but a .22 would be too quiet for anybody to notice. Or you could pick up some of those Aguila(I think that's it. They're mexican and the only noise is the hammer hitting the bullet) bullets... Or light him up with your paintball gun.

A bow and arrow would work too.

Actually, in my experience, the report from a high velocity .22 is greater than that of a slower, larger caliber bullet. I could be wrong, but I'm just judging by ear. Also, a revolver will be louder than most semi-automatics and rifles.

id try and find a non violent solution... they are mamals after all.

only thing i shoot at down here near the 'glades are cottonmouths. unfortunately that gets you a visit from the po-po. shootin gators (if they are big enough) is legal, but i dont have a .50 cal or nato rounds, so not too much chance of doin more than hurtin one and scarin it.

My dad told me a few years ago, that if you ever need to shoot a skunk, it is best to try and shoot it right behind the eyes if you're aim is good enough, that way it's almost 100% unlikely that it will spray in the period right after it's dead but where the nerves are still twitching.

Don't kill..... Someone I know shot one with a .22 The dead thing started smelling worse then it did when it was alive.

                                Call animal control.
