Do you happen to know a file name that you can do an entire system search on? My guess is that the profile got blown away, or moved.

Try looking for various programs online cause actual recovery services can cost a pretty penny.

If the shop reloaded windows, your going to have new porfiles. Check out the "documents and Settings" folder. You'll probably find two folders with your profile name. One will be 'username' and the other will be 'username.computername'. IE, pbzmag and pbzmag.mshome. When you reload windows, you can save all of your data. Doing that will keep previous profiles. When you make new profiles with the same name(s), it will add '.computername' to the new profile. All you have to do is move/copy data from your old profile to your new profile.

I did try searching for a few files that I expected to be on the computer, but didn't come up with anything.

I take it that if the profile is gone, I would have to find some sort of program to search the hard drive and list every file saved on it, or something to that effect?

Edit: thanks pbzmag, I'll try searching for another profile
