    Looking for Import Engines

As my sig below says, I have a 240Z which is completely gutted. Nothing is left on it except to keep it rolling. Ive brushed away most of the rust, treated it, painted and its time to build it up. I was gonna just keep the stock engine, new everything, bore it out, throw some webers on it and get a 170 hp engine...oh wait that completely sucks for the money($3000). So I've gone nuts and decided to do a swap. Three options:

1.Later model Datsun Turbo engine. Cheap, reliable up to 400hp. Its a engine that keeps in the Datsun/Nissan family, but still flawed by the non crossflow head and dated OHC design.($2500)

2.V8 350ci Chevy, the next easiest of the swaps due to a manual and has gobs of torque that will probably kill me and the car later on. This is considered sacrilige in the Datsun/import/domestic circles because who dares put American muscle in a light import car?($4000)

3.What Im leaning towards, a Nissan RB25DET. This inline 6 DOHC turbo engine keeps in the Nissan/Datsun family and frankly it looks freaking awesome.Im trying to find one in Texas or a good importer in California around the price of $3000 for complete front clip. All Ive got is a guy in Houston for $6000 which is a total rip. So do any of you import car buffs have any experience with a good shop with a good price please let me know.

Im going for the sleeper look. The Datsun will look completely stock on the outside other than lowered about an inch. Stock tires, rims, no air dams or "bling bling" just a quiet exhaust until the stop light until you hear either a rumble of an 8 under the hood or a little whoosh of air from the waste gate. Thus knowing revving up you little Honda Civic will get you nowhere.

PS:I don't street race, just want something unique in my area and to see people do this-->

when i rev up my civic i rest easy knowing the woosh comes from my blow off valve, and not the turbo's waste gate.

it's a bit riced, i'll agree. but it's amazing what a cheap 1.6l sohc civic can do with small amounts of building and a home made turbo kit. Quote from driver: "The 240sx was running 26psi and is making 400whp but wasn't leaving me, i was running 16 to 17psi on dyno at 282whp/246wtq. The SRT-4 was running 17psi with a 100shot of N20. Still took him. Last run with the supra was on 3 pistons after 100mph"

I thought that was kind of cool, in any case good luck with your swap. my dad is running the chevy 350 with a powerdyne super charger at 6.5 pounds of boost..it's absolutely rediculous.

I've seen the front clips for Skyline's on eBay several times and was tempted to get one a while back since it was in Houston but decided not to. I guess try eBay and pray that you can get lucky.

Contact me with a PM. I know a Skyline importer. Has brought in SR20DET's before, have you ever considered that engine?

that's not my civic, but i'll agree it's pretty cool. a little to riced for my liking, it's all about being completely sleeper..then BAM!

those 1.8t gti's are amazing, i'm a big fan. however I tend to go for the low budget style though, heh.

go with the 350 sbc, you can make decent hp out of it for dirt cheap and everyone makes parts for a sbc.

besides, a little car like that with a big ole motor like a sbc would rock the pants off of a civic.
