Does my cell service provider really matter?

I need to get a new phone. I'm wondering if there is one provider that is head and shoulders above the rest or they are all pretty much the same. Anyone?

    sprint is teh bl0w

    get att or cingular.

by the end of the year (i think), these two will have merged, forming the largest cell network out there.

I would avoid AT&T like the plague. I use TMobile and am very happy with it. I was an AT&T customer for a few years before that. And I have had all kinds of service on work phones over the years. AT&T has good TDMA coverage, but all of the nice phones are GSM, and TMobile has the best GSM deployment. I would agree that Sprint is just plain worthless. I have not delt with Cingular (they are not in this market).

Iv had ATT for 2 years and havent had a problem with them. If you do get ATT, in some places, your phone will read Cingular, in other places it will read ATT. Now, cingular and ATT will become one company in one year, until then your phone will read both names in certain areas.

Serivce varies a lot from place to place. Best thing to do is ask everyone that has a cell phone that lives by you to tell you how well thier service works.

being a person that travels all over the country all the time, id say my fav is verizon. cingular has probably the best coverage out of all the companies, but their customer service sucks, and they seem to have alot of hidden fees and other garbage, just horrible company.

              sprint sucks, dont use them.

tmobile seems to be pretty good, dont know much about them.

verizon is by far my favorite

I use T-Mobile and am very satisfied with them. I referred my friend's family and my brother to T-Mobile. They are all very happy.

I probably will be getting service with T-mobile only because, I believe they are the only ones, who offer service to the Side Kicks, I really need a side kick, I find myself out of the house alot more due to business, but I still need to manage the IM's, I get to sell my headbands and other products. Anyone have a sidekick?

Verizon has great service but they are really expensive, I use t-mobile and so far i am happy with it...the only time i lost service was when i was in a basement, and prices are cheap too..40 bux and you get 1000 minutes!

                        Love/Hate relationship

I have T-mobile.....and i hate it, only because they don't have a good coverage area where i'm from. I've been told itll get better as they add more towers, but right now, i can't even use my phone at my house. which is where i'm at 90% of the time. other than that, I absolutely love it.

Verizon works almost anywhere i've been. The only places it hasn't no other services had signals either and I often have it when others don't

I've had my Verizon for 3-4 months now and have NEVER had a problem with it. My mom on the other hand has Tmobile and it sucks her signal cuts out every 5 minutes.

I use US-Cellular. I doubt anyone else uses it. It gets decent service out in the boonies of NH. If I crash my snowmachine I can call someone to lift it off me. A lot of the big services don't work out here. When I'm at school in Troy NY, I get almost perfect service. I forgot to look where you were from, but for New England, US-Cellular works pretty well. It's not a very well known company, but it's pretty good.
