    mini-Ipod question

I just bought one of these for the wife, b-day tomorrow. Some folks at work told me you have to encode music into some kind of apple format in order for the mp3's to play.

Maybe I missed this on thier website but it sounds like pure BS to me. Any truth guys?

Yeah, it bs. What they are probably confusing is the AAC format that Apple makes, but the iPod can play mp3's with no prob.

one type(I forgot which one) iTunes will have to convert but it does all the work for you and it also makes a copy of what is converted so your orginal file remains the same. Ipod's make great gifts Cudos to you

I dont think that is true, but I run my music through i-tunes. They provide a disk that uploads itunes so it shouldnt be a prob. I just got a mini for my b-day and i luv it sooo much. She will love you all over for it

Havoc is right. When im burning songs to mine, it always converts one file type, but im not sure which one it is.

It's untrue: the iPod will play MP3, AAC, ALC, and maybe WMA. What they're confusing it with is AAC, which is Apple's format. You can put MP3's on it just fine, but I'd just use AAC anyway since it's better than MP3. A 160kb/s MP3 is about equivilant to a 128kb/s AAC file.

It will NOT play WMVs, however iTunes comes with a built in converter that makes them AAC. At least, this is how it is on the regular iPods, and I can't imagine it being different for the Minis, especially since they both use iTunes.
