What can paypal do if someone files a claim and I have no money in the account?

I recently sold a paintball gun to someone in Argentina. They are saying they never got it (wheather or not that is true i'm not sure, but I did send it). I don't have a tracking number for it because that country doesn't do that, I do have a certificate of mailing however which is proof it was sent (but who knows if the morons at paypal will believe it).
Basically does anyone know what happens if he files a claim, wins, and I have no money in my paypal account? Do they charge the credit card I have listed? If that is the case what if I take the credit card off the account, can they go after my other paypal account, or will they just freeze both my accounts and not allow me to use the service again untill I pay. Any ideas?

well you could call your credit card company and put a stop to any withdrawls that come from paypal. but kiss your paypal goodbye.

yeh, call your bank too... i know i have my bank account set up to access paypal withdrawls and deposits (i use it for deposits).

My guess is that if you show recipt of shipping, that will likely be enough. They arn't morons as you so aptly describe them, they do know what they are doing and are resonably good at it.

Well they screwed me once before, that is why they're idiots
Last time I left a deposit on a car through paypal, then found out the car he claimed was a 62,000 mile 3 owner car had 180k on it and he was atleast the 10th owner. I told the guy he refused to refund my deposit and eventually gave me $30 back. So I filed a claim and told them I wanted the other $70 back, 2 hours later he filed a claim against me for the $30 saying I never sent "his goods" (he never even said what it was that he didn't receive). Well they denied mine and gave him his even though it is pretty obvious why he made that claim (hmm, 2 hours after I made mine I wonder why he could have done it).

There isn't a bank account connected to this paypal account, I have 2 accounts this is the one I use for credit cards. I took the credit card off the account as a precaution, so I don't think they can legally bill anything to the cards now. Hopefully he isn't trying to scam me and the Argentinian mail is just slow.

If you call up paypal there usually pretty helpful and will listen to you. Maybe you should call and tell them your story.

It may be, but their basketball team sure isn't.

I called them the first time on three ocassions and was assured that I would get my refund and he would not. That isn't what happend though, and when I called them afterwards they said oh sorry there is nothing we can do.
