....yeah.... this year's VMAs sucked bad, only part I liked was when Marlyn Manson said he rode Mandy More to the show lol, I liked that, but overall it sucked! That band with 24 people also really sucked, no one has said anything about them yet, but they sucked, lol when I love the 2000s(?) comes on if it ever does, their gonna get their own little spot. But overall it sucked, tooooo much rap!!! VMA suck!

            Bad singing?

Did anyone else think it sounded like MTV doesn't have vocalists or bands warm up at all? I cracked up when the guy from hoobastank started singing, and then there was a lady in a red dress who was also singing... poorly. After that i switched to the Olympics.

                my two cents

first penny- dave chappele was... not as good as he could have been

2nd- stevie wonder did not let go of alicia keys' hand after dhe gave him a hug after their song. i dunno if any of you remember, but a few years ago on the vmas, he preformed with someother people, but they left him on stage! hes blind and just standing around with no where to go. it was sad, but funny in a twistedly cruel kinda way...

MTV stinks period. They've taken a good idea and ruined it. After all it used to be Music Television. Now it's not so much music but crappy shows about musicians way too pricey houses, cars, and a bunch of people living in one house/bus "struggling" to live.

Anyways. I gave up Cable so I didn't see it.

this VMA probably makes some of us "older" guys, twenty somethings, long for the "old days" when it was'nt so damn rap oriented. They might as well air the thing on BET nowadays.

The period from about '89- 94' was a real good period to watch VMA's and MTV for that matter. They used to show all kinds of different bands. I said BANDS, real BANDS, not this coporate, put together teeny-pop crap!!

They even had this crazy thing called "video blocks" were they'd show three or four videos in a row by the same band, so you could see three GNR, Beastie Boys, or Nirvana videos in a row, it ruled. Now they would never waste that much air-time before they tried to sell you something with five million commercials.

There was always rap, but everything wasnt just one big "Cribs" show, and all the excitement did'nt revolve around things like "OMG, what new "ice" will P-diddy be wearing tonight?" or "who's Nelly's favorite designer?".
The VMA's and MTV have been sucking steadily more ever since. The few bright spots since this suckage were things like when Chris Rock first hosted the VMA's and pissed off everyone, that was cool. Of course that was also a little while ago now.

And Jet is much more "rock" than Linkin' Park, just look at they're influences. They're an ACDC decendent. Countrary to what some of you might believe, there was a lineage of rock that began before some of you guys bought your first Korn, or Limp Bizkit album!

I remember owning my first "rock" cd in 4th grade, Nirvana's "Nevermind". Some of the stuff now a days isn't great but it could be worse. I also feel that Linkin Park is great. They manage to appeal to a large audience and do it with out adding ANY curse words, which in todays music is almost unheard of. Plus they can rock a show live. I seen them a week before their cd was first released for $10 and got 3 of the 4 members signatures.

Korn has been around since I was in 5th or 6th grade at least (22 now). Their first 2 albums were awesome and then they kinda changed with the times. Like most bands that want to stay around do. Limp Bizkit was a fad and have done the right thing and fell off the wagon.

I will agree that the early 90's VMA's were better. The one show I remember is Chris Rock ripping on N'sync and Backstreet boys. Simply hilarious. Even the Run DMC/Aerosmith duet was cool back in the day. Ahh when MTV actually had video's.

Last year's was descent, but I turned off this years right about when Jet and all them played.

                            C. Rock has hosted it a few times. His first was the best.
