    Rips? You play Pac-Man still?

    I had a Voodoo3 4500 and two Voodoo3 2000s (or 3000s?) PCIs - threw them all away.

Slot 1? Holy crap! The last time I used Slot 1, was on my Abit BH6 board with my 300A @ 500+ And that is a WAY long time ago.

Hell, I gave Vegeta a 2000+ Athlon and a Gigabyte board with built-on raid and all the trimmings... cuz it's old!

    You need a new computer!

Make sure that, if the video card has an extra power connector - you plug it in.
Yes we had the fan and everything hooked up
Im running a GeForce 5600XT in my PC now, so i doubt its anything with the Nvidia cards, unless its the chipset on the videocard, or maybe my chipset on my mobo, if that will effect anything.
Basically, we were trying to build a "Super Computer" to play Doom 3 all night long on his big screen tv. My friend has a 2.2ghz processor i think it is, and a crappy motherboard that wouldnt support anything over it.
So I overclocked my CPU to from 3.0 to 3.6ghz, we added some of his ram to my 512 to get 1.5gb and we were going to put in his GeForce6800 to top it all off, but sadly it didnt work.

Unfortunately, this gets into the realm of psychic diagnostics - and I don't have a simple solution for you other than: Isolate parts to a minimum needed to boot. Triple check everything - it's the "stupid" things you overlook that get you, I've done it plenty of times! See if there is a known issue with that video card and your motherboard.

I've been avoiding Doom3. It's the kind of game that makes you want to buy a new computer. I've done it before with other games.

Im not running a dated bored or anything. Im using an ASUS P4P800SE, i would think someone using it would want to use a 6800, but i did just realize that i had the voltage turned down on my power supply (the little red tab thing on the back), would turning it up have fixed it?

?? It should be set to 115. It's to change it if your wall outlet is 115 or 220 (like in Europe).

I just went through that to run HALO PC, my comp is not quite 4 years old. I had to upgrade the video card and add some RAM. My $20 ebay bargain for HALO ended up costing me well over $100 just to make it run.
