I got home from school today to find myself in the paper for our soccer team. It's the first time in almost 3 years our soccer team has been mentioned in the paper. Probably because we have been pretty pathetic in the past. So far this season we are 1-1, not too shabby. Here is an article and a picture. I'm not trying to show off or anything, just kind of cool they finally mentioned our team. I'm the guy in the red from Pacelli

Cardinals can't capitalize

MARSHFIELD -The Stevens Point Pacelli soccer team missed a number of scoring opportunities during the second half of Tuesday's game at Griese Park, and was shut out 3-0 by Marshfield Columbus in its first Central Wisconsin Soccer Conference game of the season.
Pacelli coach Manny Carreiro said the Cardinals (1-1) played pretty well, they just need to cash in when a scoring opportunity arises.
"The teamwork was great," he said. "We just weren't able to capitalize, and the Dons did. The kids are playing well, we just need to finish things off in the box when we get the opportunities."
The win was costly for the Dons.
Sophomore Tony DeVries broke his left leg when he collided with sliding Pacelli goalkeeper Tom Weishan 16 minutes into the first half.
Weishan was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty and Columbus made the Cardinals pay when Pat Meyer scored on a penalty kick for the game's first goal.
DeVries' father, Bryan DeVries, said that Tony broke two bones in his leg and will miss the remainder of the season.
"The wind was taken out of our sails," Columbus coach Mike Miller said. "It took us a half to get over it and start playing soccer."
Carreiro said the penalty called on the play was unfortunate.
"We kind of had our momentum cut from us when they issued a penalty kick on a bad call, as far as we're concerned," Carreiro said.
Neither team managed a good scoring opportunity for the rest of the half, but play began to pick up after halftime.
Goalkeeper Joel Weber and the Columbus defense, anchored by junior Andrew Miller, held off four Pacelli scoring chances and the Dons (1-3) finally capitalized on a few chances of their own.
Sophomore David Mesa scored on an assist by Dylan Boucher at the 64:51 mark, and seven minutes later added another goal off a centering pass from Justin Smith.
"We've been working a lot on short passing and I think that showed today," coach Miller said. "Andrew Miller is a very strong player in the center and he does a very good job of directing the team."
