PS2, X-box, Gamecube ??

Ok, I am going to get my kids (4 and 7) a game system for X-mas... and now Im looking for input from others who know them, which would be best for them. If it was for me Id buy an X-box, but I dont see enough titles there for the kiddies, opinions, thoughts?

If you want games targeted for young kids.. no violence, etc.. Cube hands down. And if you game you can also enjoy a good selection of games.

You don't care what they play - Go with the box. Halo.. Halo 2.. Ninja Gaiden.. And many other good games. Hell, I might be getting an xbox just for halo2.

The cube is a good choice, but i would suggest buying it new. Buying used electronics is generally not a good idea.

Hey the Xbox has some games for the kids: Grabbed by the Ghoulies, eh ok well there are other games that aren't that violent. Like halo.

Oh and GbtG is from RareWare the guys who did donkey kong country so its guarenteed to be good.

Only buy an xbox or gamecube if you already have a ps2. The Ps2's library of quality games completely pwns either of the others.

one thing you might also want to check is you local video store. what games do they rent?
i know the ones around me dont have many xbox games, not many game cube, but hundreds of ps2

PS2 has the biggest selection of games but the graphics suck. Gamecube has the most kid freindly games i beleive. I beleive the xbox is somewhere in the neiborhood of 3 times as powerful as both of the others tho.

actually, i think the ps2 has more kid friendly games than the cube. seeing as how it's been out for longer. but most of the games that are on the cube are also on the ps2(except for the pokemon games, those are nintendo only). while the cube is known for having a lot of kiddie games. that was mostly when it first came out. now they are making more games for adults/teens than kids. the box as has been stated is more for adults. i'm not sure how many games are actually out for the box, i've tryied to stay away from owning it....but i'm getting one. another reason i think people think the cube is for kids is because of what i like to call "cutesie graphics". while a game with cute characters may be ok, but the fact that fox mc cloud just punched pikachu in the face doesn't make it for kids. if i am wrong, please correct me. thx.

Yeah. You brought up a good point tribalman. The shear volume of games for PS2 suggests that it is very possible that they have kid freindly games. Possibly more than Gamecube.

I think you should buy an xbox for yourself. Set the parental controls on it so the kids cant play with it, and buy a PS2 or gamecube for the kiddies. The video game machines are pretty cheap now. You could probably afford both. Just my opinion tho. Dont know if you got the money or attention for a video machine for yourself.
