Lancer Evo vs.Trans Am

ok some guy said that a new lancer evo could beat a late 1970s trans am 5.5 liter 455 im a trans am /firebird guy so of course i said no way...... does anybody have eitehr of these cars so we could race them(i cant drive)

Quarter Mile? On a track?

Lancer Evo's are REAL damn fast. I don't know their stock quartermile time, but its pretty low. They are 271hp, and AWD makes a difference. Curb weight is around 3200 lbs, I believe.

I'd like to vote for the TransAm myself, but I'm honestly not sure.

If its on a track, with some curves, I'd vote on the Evo.

I'd say Evo. Bone stock you're in the very low 13's on 1/4 mile and 5.1 or 5.2 0-60. Pretty good for 30K

A stock 73 Trans Am with the Super Duty 455 will run 13.54 seconds @ 103.56 mph on the 1/4 mile.

Close enough together that the driver will make the difference. Not to mention I doubt your ever going to find a 30 year old trans am thats been left stock.

'trigger' the bandit's car had a 455 with a 4-speed in it. well 2 of the cars anyways. the other one had a different motor in it with an auto.

The 455 wasn't a factory option in a 77 SE anyway. Pair of 400's and an olds 403. But who knows what hollywood did to it.

455 doesn't have anything to do with the hp or anything, its got to do with the displacement of the engine, 455 is acutally 455 cubic inches of displacement.

Evo, believe it or not techonolgy in cars has improved over the last 30 years. Evo is plenty fast, lighter, and handles a bazillion times better than an old trans am.
