If you like that, you should watch Trinity And Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie. Historical documentary, with a ton on US nuclear test footage (including that one), a couple Russian tests, and a weird ending that makes the chinese look like maniacs. I believe it even has video of the Tsar Bomba test...the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated.

PS: Mango, that's a good song you've got quoted in your sig.
"I would like nothing more than to walk around
wearing a shirt with a giant arrow pointing
downwards, but I have this strange feeling
that most people would take it as some kind
of sexual suggestion rather than an attempt
    to infer one's final destination."

That was awesome. Frightening, if you consider how many times we came close to using bombs like that or even bigger.

The 280mm "atomic cannon" was only test-fired once, from what I could find, and used a 15kt weapon. About 20% larger than the bombs dropped on Japan.

My guess would be the paint being cinged and blown off the vehicles from the heat shockwave.

Just thought of something. Neutron bombs are way better than A or H bombs for their simple and highly effective "interaction" with the local wildlife.

No, I think neutron bombs are way worse.

            (a) for their "interaction" with the local wildlife (wildlife is good! "Civilisation"is bad!)
            (b) because they make nuclear war seem feasible, which is a bad idea.

Sure, they're great if you want to kill everyone and leave most of their stuff intact for you to pillage, but from the humanitarian point of view, they're a pretty nasty weapon...even compared to a conventional thermonuclear device. Death by acute radiation poisoning over the course of hours to days after the blast isn't exactly a nice way to go.

I think I'd take the relatively quick death by concussive/thermal forces of a standard nuke over the slow liquification of my internal organs associated with a neutron weapon.
