AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
My computer has been running REALY slow lately. I can't run more then 2 things at a time. I can't open multiple browsers. I have run every adware, spyware, and virus scan I have.
Can you be more specific about your setup...connection type...etc
Is it only running slow online??
Dail up: Try changing numbers
Cable/dsl: Try reseting your modem (unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in
Clear off history, cache, etc.
Did you update your adware/spyware/virus protection before you ran it??
Contact your ISP to see if they are having connection problems in your area
Then again it could just be Windows. If it is a older system with Win 95, 98, or ME you really should upgrade...if you can find a copy of Windows 2000 pro. Really good for online but the plug and play sucks
If not you may have to fork out cash for Win XP
Just curious how many browsers do you need running at the same time??
who cares how your marker looks...just move fast and shoot straight
I have been having a similar problem for about a week. Really slow loading pages , taking a long time to navigate , slow to close windows and programs.
Then earlier today I became unable to open or send emails with it.
Just a few minutes ago while I was messing around looking for a problem the connection for the shared internet just went away entirely.
I have run my antivirus and spybot , but nothing shows up.
I got on another computer I have on the same connection and its rocking right along , opens email , works fine. Looks like I may loose a bunch of files on the other.....what options do I have other than reformat?
I would UNintstall all of your anti-virus, anti-spyware stuff (unless it's Norton or McAfee or a similarily well know program) because all of the supposed "anti-spyware" programs you're downloading are probably doing MORE harm than good and are probably putting MORE pop-ups on your computer (thus slowing down your computer by taking up memory) rather than less. After you uninstall, go into your program manager (Alt + Tab + Delete) and end any program that looks suspicious or doesn't have "SYSTEM" next to it. Good luck, the process I just went through usually works for me but it's not guaranteed to work for everyone.
More information is needed.....
Spyware or anti spyware does indeed cause a lot of issues that were never there before you installed them but that is a too easy answer.
What specs is the machine you are running
Chip
RAM
HD size/s and speeds and free space on either
OS
how many peices of hardware do you have installed.....HD's, CD roms, floppy's, USB cards, firewire cards, fans, fan controllers. and what wattage power supply do you have.
I will put a guess in before this infomation is posted and say you will have less than 25% of free space on your hardrive and or too little RAM, lots of add on's and a small power supply that is causing a bottle neck slowing the access time down to the HD's. Let us see the information I have asked for and lets see how close all of the advice is so far.
