    The Teleporters Are Clear!!!

I feel so important now. I just figured out how to do something cool in Halo, all by myself!!!

OK for both of you guys that don't play Halo, you can stop reading now.

I just figured out how to plant a grenade (definately plasma, and I think it works with frags) onto the teleporters in Blood Gulch the first time, every time, from a spot real close to the bases. To those of you who know why this could potentially be important, good job. To those who think "why would that be important" or "Oh, so you can hit people right as they come out of the teleporter" let me inform you of the correct reason for this. People will inevitably use a vehicle, at one time or another, to block off your teleporter to keep you at your base. Less advanced players will often try to just walk up to the teleporter to clear it off, but the more experienced of us know that this usually ends up in premature fragging, since the enemy teleporter is still open, and that they will be pouring forth from it. Trying to move it will get you sniped (in the mode I usually play we all start with pistols, and are lethal with it). So what I have done is found a way to clear off the teleporter without going anywhere near it. A single plasma or frag thrown from a spot about 30 feet from your base (right about where the ground goes from sand looking to grassy) is all it takes to rid the teleporter of that nasty clog. Now I know you all are thinking "Tell us, uncle Bert, how do we do such a thing!?!?!?!???" Well, I'm gonna hold off until tomorrow to tell ya. 2 main reasons-
    1. I wanna make you wait
    2. I actually have to have the game going to be able to type a good description of the exact spot, and I'm too lazy to start it up right now (this one was the main reason )

Now I know all you guys who might actually use this are now curious and will try to either figure it out themselves or will wet themselves waiting for my answer. For all you skeptics, just try it once and you will see that the grenade actually does fall right onto the spot that it needs to, and that Mr. Bert is actually very and you will be all and be able to in Halo now and when you win you will be all and your losing friends will be all cause your newfound mad Halo skills are teh hotness.

But seriously, tomorrow I'll show ya, cause even if you don't use it it's still kinda a cool thing to do.

    PS-

The teleporters are suicide if someone can hit them with a SR. In a system link or PC useful but all your doing is throwing a 'nade. Now if you were talking about getting off of maps, grenade snuffing, jumping a ghost into the top of a base in sidewinder, etc. then it would be awesome but... ... just throwing a 'nade?! Oh well.

The porters can indeed be suicide, if someone has a SR. The thing is in big matches nobody can snipe at them for long cause (at least with my friends) snipers don't last very long. Countersniping is an all too common practice. It's not just "throwing" a nade, it's pinpointing a target with a nade. Like I said even if you don't use it it's still kinda fun to see that the nade hit exactly where you wanted it to. The thing is, all the other stuff you said, like getting off the map, ghost jumping, well, that's sorta well known. Nobody I've ever seen has mad artillery skills like these .

Oh yeah, what was the snuffing grenade thing you mentioned? I haven't heard of that one.

Rather then just have one spot where you can hit the teleporter its better to know how the grenades are thrown so you can hit it from just about anywhere in range.

The thing is that most people don't realize these spots are in range. You can't see the teleporter from these spots. I'll try to post them tomorrow.

OK I'm finally getting around to the part where I tell you where this place is. This will sound very complicated to do such a simple thing, but trust me, after you actually do it a couple times this will be very easy to do.
The system I use relies on lining up certian things on the screen with certain places on the map, to end up giving you a spot with visuals that cannot be seen anywhere else the visuals that are displayed on the screen at that time (OK that sounded weird, but trust me this thing works).
What you need to do this:
A pistol or rocket launcher, for it's scope. The sniper rifle doesn't work because the zoom in shape is different than the pistol or RL.
A grenade (duh). Preferrably a plasma, so you can see where you're hitting.
What I would do if I were you is play a game by yourself, using the second player to just go look at the teleporter so you can see if you're doing it right.
                AAAANYways, here's the spots:
                For the Red/Clean/Dark teleporter clearing:
Arm the pistol and go inside your base. Run out of the front entrance. If you keep going perfectly straight you will find a rock on the ground, the top of which is about the height of the MC's head. To the right of it are some plants, and behind you and to the right is where the Warthog spawns at the beginning of the game. It is on the rightmost dirt path you can take out of the base area. If you look strait past it there will be the rock in front of the cave door. This is not the rock that sorta projects out of the ground, making kinda a slope with a little covered spot underneath it. If you can't find this stupid rock by now then shame on you. OK so after you find the rock, stand behind it so your back is to the base and your front is to the rock. If you look at the top of the map along the top of the ridges that are the top of the cave area, you will see that the darker one closest to you forms a point that sticks out to the side, and turns out to be very nearly inline with the lighter edge of the cliff in the background. You will want to look at the place where the dark edge meets the light edge, at a point just above the leftmost vertex on the dark side. Remember this intersection. Now, look at the rock in front of you. It is (very) roughly half-spherical in shape. Find the uppermost point on this rock, at it's peak vertex. It's about the height of the MC's head. Remember this spot as well. Now what you want to do is this. Line up the two points on the screen. You should end up being right up next to the rock, seeing three lines that intersect- the rock's uppermost vertex directly inline with the light and dark cliff ledges. Use the pistol scope to get the best spot you can. All this you have done simply gets your body in the right position to throw, and lines you up with where you need to aim. OK, so, while zoomed in with the scope of the pistol or RL, look at the point of the four intersecting lines (2 are from the rock). In the circle that you see when zoomed in, follow each line. They will all start in the center and go to the outward ledge. All of them will be straight except for the far left one, the light cliff. It will have another corner in it. Without moving the left joystick, look directly at that point. Now start moving your view directly upwards until that point hits the bottom of your screen. The right edge of the circle should now be touching the edge of the dark cliff, which will be the only thing you see. You will notice that the "2x" on the screen is getting run through by the line. What you will need to do is to move to the left just a tiny tiny bit until that line runs through the center of just the "x", as in X marks the spot. Now, throw a grenade. It should come in at a very low angle and scoot in to be right next to the teleporter. This should clear off anything on your teleporter except for a Scorpion, in which case you will need to move it yourself.
                From the Blue/Dirty/Light base:
Start out same as before, get the pistol and go inside your base. Exit from the front door, and there will be a tree and a rock. Go up next to the tree. This next part is gonna be really hard to follow without some pics but I don't have a real good way of getting any at the moment. Look at th limbs of the tree. There are 2 branches with no foiliage at the end of them, 2 that are strait with leaves on the top, and the rest have a split somewhere in them and end up with 2 bunches of leaves at the top. You need to find first the one that's got a split in it, that's the shape of a Y. Coming from the base it's the rightmost one, that's kinda inline with the moon. Next, find one of the ones that have no splits in them, but has leaves at the top. Imagine that you are looking down on the tree from above. It would be the next limb counterclockwise from the Y shaped one. After that there is one with no leaves, the other one with no split, one with 3 bunches at the top, another leafless one, then the Y one again. These are all the ones on the "bottom row" of branches. All of the other ones kinda come out of the middle of the trunk or are higher up. OK so once you've found the Y branch and the one with no splits (we'll call that one the I branch for now) walk to the spot under the tree directly under Y. Look at the moon striaght in front of you. Look directly up at the tree and you will be able to see Y above you and I under it. Now for the next part you gotta think more in 2D than in 3D, so pay attention. Without strafing left and right, walk backwards (adjusting your view) until I and Y start to touch each other, forming an upside down triange thingy. Once you have found that, it gets much easier. Keep walking backwards a little. The triangle will start to close in a little bit as you move. If you go back too far it will go away completely. Now look at your HUD. Find the box that displays how many grenades you have, right next to where it shows how much ammo you have. It's really more of a parallellogram than a box. Anywho, look at the top right corner of the box. You will want to get the following lined up: The top right corner of that box needs to be lined up with the left of the triangle formed by the I and Y branches. This can be done from many different places, but you're not done yet. Next you will need to imagine a line that completely bisects the moon's semicircle, going straight up. You want your pistol's reticule on that line, vertical position does not matter at this point. Get these both lined up onscreen at the same time. This will take a little work but once you get it you're fine. Remember this part you do have to walk and strafe around, you can't do this (usually) by just looking. By the way, the triangle in the branches will be very small. So once you have the top right corner of the grenade counter lined up, as well as the targeting reticule on the moon's bisecting line, you're ready to go on to the next step. Zoom in with your pistol. Move your reticule directly upward until the moon is just out of view, and then some. Practice will tell you exactly how far offscreen you will need to get the moon until you can hit it right every time. Anyway, with the moon offscreen a little bit, throw a grenade. It should hit right where you need it to to blow off a Warthog or a Ghost. Again, with a Scorpion, you're gonna have to go move it yourself.

Remember when you're reading this and thinking "why would I take this much time to clear the thing, that's way too much effort for this", I can do it in about ten seconds tops, since I have done it before and practiced. Do it a couple times and you'll see what I mean. I know that instructions have been a little longer than you hoped for, but you can see that this isn't a one-liner that I could tell easily. So, go ahead and try it. You will be impressed with the results.
                Bert
