Theres a lot of knives that can do that too, not just katanas.

I don't think its all that impressive, bullets are soft, and a sharp well-made knife/sword is fairly hard.

You have a soft, broad surface hitting a very narrow, hard surface. Of course its going to split if you have the angle right.

i agree with Thordic too on this. Its a cool video...but not overly impressive. *NOW* if there was a guy holding the katana and he cut the bullet in midair...that would be cool!!

as a side note...one of my pet peeves is how the katana has all these mystical properties associated with it. It was a great sword...but it wasnt some super-weapon made out of adamantium.

the reason katanas are so strong is cause of the metal they are made of and the way they are made. usually metal is poured into a mold and then u sharpen the blade. katanas are actually folded over and over and this makes them very durable.
