Brock has a good point. Both of those guns are great, but you have to find the one that fits you. I shoot a mossberg 835...fits great and versatile, similar cost too.

the 870 is to shotguns what the automag is to paintball. rock solid, plenty of upgrades but works fine without them, super easy to maintain.

Sports Authority had a deal I could not resist. 870 Express for $205 AR. The action was like butter, better than Mossberg, Benelli & Winchester. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Only get anything else if you already have an 870,

Congrats! You'll love it. Just be carefull of the bugs now... The one that bit me made me sell my 870 and buy a $900 model 1100 Comp Master!

You'll love your 870. I have an 870 Super Magnum for blastin' turkeys, I also agree that the action is probably the smoothest and most trouble free on the market. Especially for the low cost of the guns. Remington made a winner with the 870 series and I hope they continue to make them a quality piece of hunting equipment.

They're not just good for hunting.

But that's the awesome thing about guns. The 870 is just as good today as it was in the 50s or whenever. There's just nothing wrong with the design.

Look at the 1911. Going on 100 years old and still does its thing with beauty. I want one. Look at anything else 100 years old. It's.....old. Outdated. I don't know what I'm saying exactly but you know what I mean.

Well of course not, they are also good tactical and clays guns as well. The ruggedness of them makes them a superb hunting shotty though.

1911's have stood the test of time, and will more than likely continue to do so for a lot longer.
