From a well experienced cheater (me) i would like to dispell some myths that will make you people look stupid:

1. Wonid: banning a wonid does nothing. It is assigned based on the cd key. Anyone who cheats often will have a lot of cd keys. It takes 3 seconds to switch your cd key.

2. TSC: tsc always lags about a month behind the latest OGC version. That means there was always a new version of OGC out by the time TSC could block the last one. Also the new OGC seems to have really thrown a curve ball to TSC by having the program put a random 3 letters before the name of the program. (tsc searches for files starting with "OGC" in certain folders on your computer).

3. "Cheaters cheat because they suck": often true but often not. I have screenshots where I am 12-0, or 22-1 (two different games) and it is legit. Being 3 or 4-1 for me is not rare when I am playing legit. Lets just say I am completly disenfranchised with CS though. There is no way to know if someone is doing good without hacks, and anytime you get a headshot the "cheater!" accusations start to fly. But games are about having fun, and if someone on the other team is cheating or I am constantly being accused of cheating when I am not I wont be having fun. Games ARE about having fun. Games are NOT about letting everyone else have fun hacking. I kill cheaters when I hack. I kill everyone when I hack.

4. You can talk a cheater out of cheating: completely not true. If I am cheating and someone is saying "why do you cheat you must have a small mind or "dude stop cheating now!" or "dude your mom is cute. Im not going to stop. I am doing this because *I* am having fun. Your fun is not an issue and is irrelevent to me.

So how do you beat a cheater? Here are the things that piss me off:

1. Leave the server. When the server is 10 vs 10 and my score is 54-2 (last week), leave. When it is 1 vs 1 I will be finding another server.

Well thats about it. A very watchfull admin can help, but it wont make me leave. A lot of people seem to think that following a cheater real close and trying to shoot him or block him in fire will help. Yes it will, but often it makes me laugh and I'll play with it or change teams. --Also shooting a cheater in the head no longer throws off the aimbot--. That used to be the most annoying thing in the world.

So to sum things up from a seasoned cheater: you cannot stop it, you can only leave. if there is an admin the TuFF servers are my favorite when I dont cheat. Also when I am not cheating I will click "Server Info" and make sure there is at least 2 or 3 people from that servers clan playing, they usually have admin powers.

I'll ban as many WONs as you can come up with. I will ban as many IPs as you connect with. I will even ban your entire ISP's range of IPs. I can even do other nasty things if a cheater really pisses me off. I hate cheaters and I will do anything to get them off my servers.

I have a few. On all of these servers I am an admin (both machine and game servers). Though I pretty much only play DoD and CS.

All of my servers are on visi.com's colo network. They have 4 ds3s to tier 1 providers and are the only ISP that I know of that has public stats available for all the links in their network. Those are at noc.visi.com

I heard Valve and someone else were workin together to encript all the files for CS that would virtually eliminate cheating forever. I have no idea if this is true or not but I hope it is.

Absolute BS that i have heard a thousand times before. There is no need for idle threats. It all comes down to if you aint there, you aint banning a cheater. Thats why I said when I dont cheat I will only play on servers with several admins playing.

Also cphilip i didnt curse, I am the one who put the **** there. Ill try to avoid needing to use * in the future though. so yeah..

BS huh? If you are on my server and I catch you cheating, I will use my power as a server admin, and enjoy myself. There are ways for a server to execute HL console commands on any connected client. I can have fun with just that.

I was playing on your server (using the tag Restola, meaning i wasnt using any cheats), and we had some trouble at the map changes. The weirdest was that when the map swithced to *edit inferno /edit* and it was 5v5 the game wouldnt commence, but we could run around and shoot eachother, but we couldnt reload or purchase anything. and the terrorist models looked like gordan, except the top half was really messed up, and the counterterrorists had both CT and T models on it. after reconnecting it fixed the problem for me but some people had to leave.

I've been playing CS since the spring/summer of 99...so beta1. and there have ALWAYS been cheaters. It used to be a whole lot worse actually(more common for the small stuff anyway), but the admins could lock out the more popular/unbalanced cheats. Now it seems everyone relies on punkbuster to screen that, so the few servers that remain open are havens for cheating scum. what can ya do... thats why you can vote.

CoA are admins. Look for CoA|Say-10 or CoA|Joeyjoe. I usually use CoA|Say-10 but sometimes i use other handles.

We have the Jedi anti-cheat plugin that catches cheaters all night long. I think over the last couple weeks, we've caught 266 cheaters. Most cheaters don't even get to play a single round before they are auto-banned.

and YES WONID BANS WORK. CD Key generators won't work because the keys need to be verified by WON. Besides, even if they do have multiple CDKeys, they're just screwing themselves over. It won't take long to ban/auto-ban all his/her WONID's.

But even better than we have live admins on all the time. We're pretty darn good at catching h4x too.

HA! Punkbuster Doesn't do SQUAT. We don't even require it anymore since we got Jedi.

THe reason vote-bans/vote-kicks aren't the best is because a skilled player CAN get scores like 12-1 etc, and all the n00bs that run around making a bunch of noise will think that he's wall hacking, etc...

There's specific things u gotta look for when you're looking for h4x.

hadnt heard of this jedi yet...any of you ever play the redphive servers? that and 6_EK is where ive been for the last while, ill check that other one out tho.

If someone gets a legit 12-1 then fine...it's not that hard to spot a guy wall hacking either way, if your a decent player you should be able to get a respectable score. tho they should bring back that chicken one...hehe. that was hilarious.
