    Shaolin Soccer

It just came out on video a couple days ago, after being in select theatres for a couple months.

Anyway it was an awesome movie, it was so completely random.

I mean a movie with kung fu guy called iron shirt, and an Evil soccer team being pumped with American drugs called Team Evil has to be good, right?

I love that movie. I watched it last night. It's like Bruce Lee meets The Matrix meets The Three-stooges.

I just rented it last night. Great movie. I haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long time.

But I noticed differences in the translation between the "American Theatrical Release" version, and the original chinese one...

Ya at times the translations seemed pretty crappy, thus making it even funnier.

Did anyone else notice all of the writing in english, like on Mighty Iron Leg's business card?

Yeah. On the dvd I rented, the American release version had the english lettering, but the chinese version had the original characters and I assume more direct translation. It was kind of weird seeing everyone talking in cantonese(?) and reacting to english signs, cards, walls, hehe.

Whats even better is that the movie pre-dates the Matrix by a small amount of time. It was originally released back in 96 I believe.

I have had it on region free DVD for some time now ... great movie, somehwhat glad it didnt get a huge release in the US as they tend to ruin movies by putting English dialog inplace of the original.

I agree...I am glad I saw this movie on my Import....but I would like to see it on the BIG SCREEN just because*.

                      *because I don't own a 500inch plasma.

If you don't like it then I hope you can see this, because I'm doing it as hard as I can.

Was it just me, or did the goalie chick with the shaved head have a huge noggin ala the aliens from the pilot episode of the original Star Trek. Pretty face but the head of a light bulb.

I'm pretty sure it came out in 2001, Chow's earlier movies weren't so good, however, "God of Cookery" had funny moments.

Yeah I am having a hard time locking down the date ... some sites show 2001, some show 2002 (which was the international release date I believe) ... others show 2004 which is when Miramax was supposed to have shown it in the US. The DVD case I have shows a date of 1997 ... Hmm driving me nuts trying to get a correct date.

Im willing to go with IMDb's date of 2001 as they tend to be more accurate then other places.

I just saw this tonight. This is by far the greatest movie EVER. I definitely watched the original Chinese version (with subtitles). Its so hilarious. I think the best line has got to be when strong head is talking to iron leg and says, "If you humiliate me again my whole family will commit suicide in front of you!!" My friends and i lost it. Oh also when light weight was worried about his eggs being broken. hahahah i love this movie.
