Sims 2 problem

Anyone know why I can't build a house?

I made the lot and it lets me place furniture and other stuff but when I go to build a wall, floor, or foundation it does nothing.

It says just to click and drag but absolutely nothing happens when i do that.

I don't have any problems with mine.

I'd give the EA forums a shot at this one...
