Two big slices of thick homemade sourdough bread...
Lay them out on a cutting board.
                Russian dressing on each.
                Swiss cheese on each.
On one, spread out some cole slaw. Then on top of the cole slaw, pile up some rare, thin-sliced roast beef.
Slap on the other half of the sandwich. Brush olive oil on the outside of each slice of bread.
Grill. A restaurant panini grill is best, but a big George Foreman grill works very well also.
Once they're nice and toasty, take it out of the grill, slice it in half, and grab a heap of napkins. It's messy!

That's the "Alan". I used to order it at my local deli near work (it was a variation on a sandwich they served) and other people heard me ordering it and wanted one too. They just started calling it the "Alan". Pity they're closed now... Another place near here made something similar called the Mooscow. (russian dressing and beef, get it? :) )

                    Grilled chicken
                    swiss cheese
                    ham
                    two strips of bacon
                    toasted sourdough bread
                    lettuce
                    onion
                    coleslaw
                    dijon mustard
                    Italian dressing
                    mild jalapenos

Correctly assembled with three slices of bread (top, normal sandwitch stuff, middle bread, coleslaw, bottom bread) you should be looking at a 5-6 inch tall sammich.

                    Delicious.......

but I like dre's idea better.....
