stay away from an old car for now there great but not something you need as a student it will never run like a new car will. this is for the simple fact that its old and the tech then wasn't as good so they didn't run weel then. stay away from dealerships unless you find the right car theyb will most likely charge you and extra grand or so. when ypou find a car that interest you look at small stuff that may indicate how that car was treated weather striping is useally the best don't be fooled bye new tires or shinny paint offten poeple put cheap tires or a cheap paint job on a car to sell it. if you do go with an old car take a magnet(a great way look for body work) with you bondo is hard on old cars. best of luck

Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

As already mentioned, both your options would end up costing you to much if you are a student, unless you are Mr. Rich.

With that being said and considering what you are going to use it for I would suggest something like a good truck. After a while if you think you have some extra cash you could lift it and do all that other stuff you wanted to do, but it wouldn't cost as much as the Wrangler.

Don't get me wrong though, Wranglers are really nice. Just to expensive.

If you're in school, and you've looked at gas prices lately, DON'T BUY MUSCLE.

Currently I drive a '77 Olds Cutlass, which is a borderline muscle car. (IF it were a Hurst 442 then it'd REALLY be muscle, but that's neither here nor there). My car eats gas.

Now there are really two ways to go about your car buying. It depends on how you want to handle cars. If you want to be able to fix em yourself, buy a cheap older model that you'll have to do work on. Great way to get experience, however not so much fun at times.

Or you can spend more, buy a newer car that'll have less issues and you don't have to worry about it.

Did you read? He said he was going to work for it, not be given a car. And just because he goes to a private school doesn't automatically make him a "rich kid."

Heck, I went to a school with kids much better off fianacially than me, and I never had my own car in HS.

He goes to a private school man. Even if he does work for it most likely w/e way hes making his money hes getting really good pay or he has an easy job (thats usually the case for privilaged kids but maybe not him). There are also a ton more kids at the school i went to that were way better off than me but thats the case at any school. Like he said though, he goes to a private school and the kids drive BMW's and stuff (thats not normal for a regular school which makes his case different).

I go to a private school that has VERY well off kids, being located in one of the wealthiest suburbs in the United States has something to do with it. I can tell you for a fact that just sterotyping calling all kids rich is false. There are definitely people at my school that need finanical help.

police interceptor man! you would feel so bad a in that car. if you live off a busy road park it at the end of your drivway facing the road so people will freak out and think its an under cover cop car. and get some wig wags, man you would look so l33t
who ever said "its not whether you win or lose..." probably lost.

pyro, what gen/year is that blue camaro right there? it looks pretty sweet. got any actual specifics on those cars?
The blue one is a 91 or 92 Z28 convertible. It could either be a 305 or a 350 (no way to tell by the pic), the 305 could have a 5spd or an automatic the 350 has an automatic. The 305 can either have 205hp & 285ft/lbs with a 3.08 rear with the 5spd or 2.73 with an automatic or 230hp & 300ft/lbs and a 3.42 rear if they got the option. If it is a 350 it has 245hp, & 345 ft/lbs with a 3.23 rear.
It's pretty easy and cheap to work on if you want to make it go faster too.
