    The Dark Tower is over...

Anybody else here read 'The Dark Tower' series by Stephen King?

Just picked up the final chapter, and blazed through it this week, foregoing the physics and calc tests I have tomorrow...

Good read, The Waste Lands is my favorite of the series, but I think this one comes in at a solid number 2...

I hate to tease those who haven't, or are reading it, but I honestly didn't see the ending coming the way King presented it... and I guess thats a good thing...
Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

I didn't either... When I walked past it in Barnes and Noble, I thought it was just a display promoting the book...

      Oh well, I'm not complaining...

        I just finished it yesterday.

I have to say, anyone who has doubted King's skill as a writer should read all his works, and then read the Dark Tower series.

It's been obvious for years to any real King fan that there is a common thread that goes through almost all of King's books. This thread IS The Dark Tower.

Its an amazing accomplishment, and a hell of a way for him to retire. I own all his books, and it makes me want to go back and read them all through again.

It gives new meaning to so many books. Hearts in Atlantis, Insomnia, and Salem's Lot, in particular, but others as well.

I can't reccomend this series enough.

Agreed. I am almost glad I didn't read the first book, I first read the second, then third, then first of the series, followed by the fourth. I personally enjoyed both 'The Wasteland' and 'The Drawing of the Three' almost equally; the introduction to Eddy and Odetta was pretty cool. This series is for sure the best I have ever read, and I say that as a retired book-nerd . I'll have to pick up the las few books and see if I can recall the story.

I reccomend the series to ANYONE, but the first book may turn you off; I absolutely hated it.

P.S. Has anyone read the prequel to the Dark Towers? It was in 'Everythings Eventual', and I have mixed emotions about it. Decent story, and helped fill me in on the story, but seemed a little drawn out.

          Favorite quote from the series:

"Atleast I jerk off with my left hand"

          Unicorns are people too ...
Old Narhwals are people too ...
Grizzly Bears are people too ...
          Caterpillars are people too ...
Baby Peacocks are people too ...
lew "My hand was a little shaky and I released too soon."
