All I can say is at least he went out like a man.
None of that wussy pill-poppin' or wrist-slitting "cry for help" crap.

Most artists seek imortallity, to leave a legacy, and the only way to do it if you aren't talented, is to die. The more contorversy and tragedy the better. I'm pissed off at myself now for even acknowleding him and proving his point.

I agree with Brock, if your going to murder yourself, do it right the first time. Saves hospital bills.

So are u saying he wasnt talented? Im sorry no matter what to become that popular and have soo many peoplelove his music u have to have a lot of talent,a nd in my mind he did. I was never that big of a Nirvanna fan and someone i know made me a copy of the Nirvana Unplugged in NY cd and it is AMAZING. His vocie seems to jsut fit that music perfectly and make it work.

Yes, I am saying he wasn't very talented. Not to say he didn't have ANY talent. The major factor in musicians popularity is luck. I can name many other bands that have more talent in thier toenail clippings than Kurt ever had. He just played the right thing at the right time. If you listen to popular music today, the lack of talent is undeniable if you know anything about music. They just happen to play the right thing to the right person and they throw a label on it and sell you a coaster for $15 then play it all over the airwaves like a public service announcment. Kurt just got lucky and it was masked by his death.

I was around 12-13 when Kurt died. At the time, Nirvana was just huge, all over MTV, the radio, angry teenagers T-shirts ( ).

From my understanding, Kurt was overloaded by the huge reponse to Nevermind. I'm sure that the band did, to some degree, want to "make it." What they got was probably not what they expected...

Kurt, and many other musicians from the late 90's, had a massive heroin problem, in addition to other substance abuse issues (mental health and depression prescriptions). I'm an idiot for not remembering specifics, but lead singer of Sublime, guitarist for Alice in Chains, guitarist for RHCP (almost) and undoubtedly others suffered from drug abuse in the public spotlight.

Suspicions of murder seem most likely unfounded. Kurt was obviously extrememely depressed, in drug problems, and overwhelmed by his and others expectations for his work. One of the more obvious 20/20 cases of hindsight around. Much of his writing centered on his self-destructive impulses, lack of self worth, and on and on.

Then again, the label did bring in Rick Rubin to produce the album (Nevermind). He also did "the black album" (actually called "Don't Tread on Me" referring to our nations one-time flag, the coiled snake with DTM thats on the album cover) which was aimed at forcing Metallica into pop radio and mainstream listeners.

But, no, I think he most likely killed himself. Impressively too... 12 ga. will put a decent sized hole in anything /a shotgun
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

Kurt was just another example that "stuff" doesn't satisfy.

He was in one of the most popular bands of his time.

He was the public face of a new grunge band movement.

                            He was rich.

He had a rock star wife (insane though she may be)

Essentially, there was nothing he didn't have.....except purpose.

He got no real fulfillment from any of the "stuff" he acquired.

He got no real fulfillment from any of the popularity he achieved.

In the end, he only got fulfillment from his music....but that didn't last.

When making music became more of punching a time clock...he had nothing left.

                            So he ended it.

Sad commentary really. But the lessons to be learned are profound. We all need to have a purpose in life. Something that transcends our own selfish pursuits....because ultimately...they lead nowhere.

there's no way anyone with as much blood in his heroine stream as Kurt had that day could have possibly been able to pull the shotgun's trigger with his toe...

courtney did it cause hole was going in the crapper and nirvana was huge.
