Sure you can. My friend took the SAT as a freshman just to see what he would get.

Most people take the SAT once or twice depending on how well they do. Your SAT score automatically goes on your transcript nomatter what you get, as well as how many times you took it. Most people if they do good on the first one, leave it at that, or if they do poorly they may try a 2nd time.
Most people will take the PSAT several times. The PSAT is just a practice, that is the same thing as the SAT but the grade doesn't go on any kind of records, where the SATs automatically do.

The SAT you took in your freshman year, was most likely a PSAT.

No, Pyro, you can sign up to take the real SAT anytime.

And no, your score doesn't go on your transcript. It only goes on when you tell the College Boards to list it, and even then, only your highest scores get listed. If you take it three times and get a V550/M600; V580/M590; V500/M650, it'll show up as V580/M650.

I doubt they rearranged the whole thing in the past 3-4 years, anyway.

you can take it anytime you want. they don't list your scores on your transcript. your scores have nothing to do with your transcript. the score reports are completely seperate from your transcript. your score report is done by ets and your transcript is done by your highschool. is it clear that they are two seperate things yet? moving along then your scores are not listed on your score report. the number of times that you took it is. only your highest scores show up on the report. colleges do not look favorably on people who take the test more than 2-3 times. i hope that clears a few things up. 800V 760M

Never said you couldn't take it anytime, you can. Most people don't take it freshmen year though.

i did that. it's part of the CTY (Center for Talented Youth) it's run by johns hopkins university. i got an 1140 or something like that. somewhere in the 1100's. this was before they recalibrated the scores. they did this a few years ago cause scores were getting too low. so they redid the tests so that the average college bound student gets a 1000. at the time they were only scoring in the 800's as an average. anyways if you score high enough you get invited to take some special courses over the summer at johns hopkins. that's what the CTY is. they take you all the way from where you are at in your classes up to college level stuff like physics and calculus. i didn't do it. it was expensive. why would i want to have my parents pay a lot of money so i could do insanely hard schoolwork over the summer? why the hell do i know so much about the SAT's? that's what i wanna know. i don't even really care about them. i didn't even study for them. go figure.

Everyone (600+ people) at my school takes the SAT in 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade, no matter what. And Junior year is what counts the most.
