    Lets Talk MMORPG

Who here plays mmorpg's? Im thinking about actually buying(and paying ) one since FPS, and SW: KOTOR has been played out. After playing Knights of the Old Republic, I just have this appetite for a RPG. Which one do you suggest? How long does it take to enjoy it? Do you have to pour your life into it or can you just play a couple hours then come back later? Oh and which do you think is the best and why?

MuOnline is a very good free one.

City of Heroes is pretty fun for a while. Evercrack 2 is supposed to be coming out, but that isn't my bag. World of Warcraft should be good when that comes out. I'm kind of interested in the Matrix MMORPG as well.

I kinda like 1 player RPGs, like KOTOR especially. I just finished Fable - it's a quick game, but it's a quality game. Working on Matrix now - but it's not really that fun to me.

PlanetSide is absolutely awesome, but not so addictive that you waste your life away playing it. And for only $2.99 , it just can't be beat!

I probably know more people who failed out of college because of online RPG's than due to girls and drugs combined. Wow, that's sad.... And I know quite a few people in their 30's that can't get out and become something more because they're stuck in fantansy land. Of course, i'm sure that could be said of anything addiciting. Just remember in the end that real life needs living =)

I played Dark Age of Camelot for about a year. Had a 50 inf and a 50 Scout. Sold that account not long ago, waiting for EQ2 or MXO.

I agree. Except I think I liked evercrack better then real life.

Nothing will ever beat the original everquest. Before sony came in and started dishing out crappy expansions - SoL, Planes of power... all the new one I never played. I played EQ with over 3 years on the Rathe server. When I left I had a 65 Ranger with god knows how many AAs. I came in right before velious came out. Norrath, Velious, and Kunark, only expansions worth playing (for the most part - and I know the first one wasnt an expansion..). I played SoL for a long time, sitting in boring dungeons with 150 people smacking some snake with a shield, sword, and "special" powers. Leaving attack on and coming back 15 mins later to find it onlyhalf dead, because it only had two and a half billion health points... Not to mention it regen'd at like 10khp/second. Turned the game from a good strategic RPG, to a boring bring 200 some odd people on a raid and mass heal everyone game.

Best levels were on velious. ToV, ST, that other place inside WWs with the rats and rotting dragons...and that one dungeon that took 2 hours to get to the top.. and for groups sirens. Ahh the memories. It will suck your life in. All you care about is getting that next 48hr fix over the weekend - because playing for 8 hours straight then sleeping and going to school just wasn't enough. Only taking breaks to order pizza over the phone - even then you were doing something with the mouse somewhere. Pizza guy show up and you couldn't leave your seat because you had a named mob that was being camped for days and everyone was phsycd about it. Yeah, I had it bad. Was the most addicting thing I have ever some across in life. I miss the game so much. I have forgotten more then half the zones and names of the mobs we took out.

EQ2 has a lot to live up to. Somehow I don't think Sony can do it. They will never be able to replicate moments like when Kyrafrem was woken...

Don't do it. Stay as far away from MMORP as you can. Get a good RPG - atleast they have a final point in which you have finished the game. Whatever you do, don't get EQ2. If it is half as addicting as the first you can say goodbye to your real life.

                            Nate
